    PS3 Graphics Ever Upgrading

Readin up about the PS3 they were saying that u need to be connected to Broadband and your PS3 would link to servers all over the world and stream stuff as you play it and one PS3 would be able to call upon the aid of another that isn't using very many resources.

Is this true??? Anyone??? That would be cool 8)

Getting to the point: my cousin told me about a really powertful Graphics card that simply plugs in at the server and all systems connected can use it's graphics capabillites.

Would it be possible for PS3 to connect to servers all over the world and use their graphics cards and whenever Sony upgraded them, your PS3 would get an upgrade too???

It's a nice fantasy but would it work? And are Sony even considering it?

  3. internet connections just dont have enough bandwidth to stream next gen graphics to your ps3 as well as all the other stuff.
but yes 1 of the great things about cell is that it does share power to where it needs it both in the chip and externally, but its unlikly this will be used in games other then cut a small amount off loading times (loading times are often slowed down by things other then the cpu which act as a bottleneck). anyway what would be the point for a server to render your graphics rather then your ps3, and incase your thinking it would be better well not nessasarily as their are going to be LOTS of ps3 connected to 1 server. but anyways lets just wait and see

the Ps3 wont "need" to have an internet connection and its not like they could process that much information at one time, c'mon we're talking upwards of 50 to maybe 80 gigs of info in one sec, internet connnections just aren't that fast. its gonna have its own GPU like a normal console.

  5. Definately. I mean it IS gonna be a console not a PC that acts like a console.

  6. I agree , net speeds arent fast enough anyways for that to be the basis of the gpu if anything ps3 wiill come with a standard gpu and broadband will be open for developers to tinker with

  10. he was regarding his earlier comments

  11. I would say definatly built in but a server would be good but it wont happen mainly because there would be graphics varying and if somone would buy the ps3 and wanted to change the card it would be a wast of the standard card.

  12. True. What is the use of this thread anyway? IT'S A CONSOLE FOR PETE'S SAKE!.......not a PC....
