Since the early years of the first PlayStations launch, the "PlayStation" brand has been associated with many games franchises. The most popuar of which are still going today...
WipEout
Gran Turismo
Final Fantasy
Resident Evil
Metal Gear Soid
Tomb Raider
Crash Bandicoot
Tekken
Ridge Racer
Pro Evolution Soccer
Cool Boarders
Destruction Derby
Formula One
World Rally Championship
Though these franchises have remained popular amongst PlayStation users for the past five or more years. Though they have helped keep the "PlayStation" brand at the top of the charts in terms of sales, it has also meant that users have decided to buy its main rival, Xbox, in a search for fresh new games such as Halo, Project Gotham Racer and Amped. With the launch of PlayStation 2 the only fresh new franchisies to be "PlayStation" exclusive that have been sucessful are The Getaway and EyeToy, no doubt Sony's Killzone will also prove to be popular when it is relesed late this year.
With PlayStation 3 due for launch in America and Europe late 2006, would you like to see the same popular franchises continued into the next generation, or a whole bunch of new franchises?
Well there will be some orginal games out and as long as there good game it don't matter if there the same franchise.
i want a combination of both new franchises and continuing of old ones wich is what all 3 new systems are gonna most likely do when there released. i want new and old franchises for all the new systems as long as the games are actually good of course.
i would also add
devil may cry
jax
ratchet n clank
ico as also new ps2 franchises.
and the continuing ofthe twisted metal series for the ps3- i think the twisted metal series belogs to sony?????
I want new franchises. I know for a fact that the most popular games now are gonna get sequels, it is a given. I want new games that break the idea of what games should be. There is so much a game developer can do with games. I want a mature rated RPG, like GTA. PS3 games are gonna kick ass as long as the developers continue to push the envelope.
i would like to see some new games maybe developers might run out of ideas![]()
i think Sony should care a little bit more about the american market and make some exclusive FPS franchise, or maybe actually get some smarts and buy up Guerilla games. and stop it from going to PC.

EDIT: Oh, I'd really love to see a sequel of Shadow of Memories on PS3. I loved the game. Truly original game with amazing story. One of the things I loved about it, were that the player had no weapon!
I think itīs one of the most underrated games ever.
(These Iīll play on PC, but better to PS3 have them, than Xbox2):
Unreal tournament
Unreal
Doom
Half-Life
Quake
Painkiller
S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl
Far Cry
Vampire - The Masquerade: Bloodlines
Warcraft
Medal of Honor
Call of Duty
Serious Sam
Max Payne
GTA *
Tomb Raider *
Devil May Cry *
Metal Gear Solid *
Gran Turismo *
Need for Speed *
Tekken *
SoulCalibur *
Virtua Fighter *
Dead or Alive *
All the Tolkien based games *
Sims *
The most popular sportgames of EA & Konami *
... will be released ONLY on PS3.
(* I don't usually like to play these kind of games, but as they are so immensely popular, it would be great if theyīd be exclusively on PS3)
It always makes me smile when I think how badly Resident Evil sells on Gamecube. Capcom themselves have stated their disappointment with the sales, and mr. Mikami (to whom Iīve lost every ounce of respect I once had) has expressed some rather bitter (and untruthful) remarks towards PS2. Hah! Thatīs what you get when you choose to release games exclusively on Nintendo.
Capcom should have thought about how much Resident Evil would have sold on PS2. Most probably few millions of copies more than on Nintendo.
Iīll NEVER buy Gamecube, not even to play Resident Evil 4. Thatīs my way of protesting. It was wrong of Capcom to announce Resident Evil 4 on PS2 and create a huge load of anticipation, and then stab the fans to the back. My advice to everyone; DON`T BUY GAMECUBE IN ORDER TO PLAY RESIDENT EVIL 4!!! I want to hurt them. I really hope Capcom will face unbearable losses with Resident Evil 4.
i 'll me start of by saying welcome to ps3insider cinder.
if u say killzone is going to be relased on pc then i dont think sony would be showing it off as much and saying its a halo killler :?

true, but you never know oh well either way is exlcusive to the Ps2. i would (oh and they better) make a Devil May Cry game on the Ps2, even tho DMC is 3 years old you have to admit it is still even bytodays standards a great looking game. if they can milk this kind of graphics out of the Ps3 in its first 2 years with just one game, i'd be happy.

There's a buncha great original games on PS2 that NickSFC left out. Devil May Cry, SSX series, NBA Street. Beyond Good and Evil, the list goes on. But it's a mistake to say PS2 is riding on it's older brother's momentum.
Fresh new franchises ofcourse...but i would also like continuations of the final fantasy series, mgs series and so on. After you've played xxx amount of brand new games, you kinda wanna go back to the old school shit every now and then.
Me..i find myself playing final fantasy tactics, 7, 8 and metal gear solid for psx every other month or so
shadow of memories? is that the same game as shadow of destiny with different title?Originally Posted by Cinder
Edit: yea it is
Im surprised that someone else enjoyed the game as much as me. If you finished the game and got all 5 endings you'd truly appreciate this game. Its one of those games where you can just chill and play after everyone goes to bed and actually think about what happened and how you could have prevented it. I found the game to be very touching, sad at times, with a dark out line...truly a master piece
You know that if your protagonist (main character of the story) is the first thing to die, the game is gonna be something out of the ordinary.

Gamespot hardly does justice in its reviews to this game.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.
