Thread: OPM!!!

  1. OPM!!!

Is anyone here subscribed to the Official Playstation Magazine? I have been a subscriber for 3 years now and I love all the monthly info that comes with the wonderful demo :?:

  2. most of the demos are rubbish!

I've been subscribed since issue 2!, and must say that it is a brilliant magazine...though a lot of the scores they give games i don't agree with - MGS2...come on!

Yeah, there have been times when I thought the mag editors were smoking crack or something. I can't remember what it was exactly right now but I now it has happened.

The demos haven't been regularly solid but when they're quality they are QUALITY!! I've got great memories of good demos. A great example was the Timesplitters demo or the one with Final Fantasy 10. The inside the game video of Final Fantasy 11 and socom were niiice (I can't wait to get part 2 of 11)

If you're on about the UK magazine, yes it was great, especially between 1995 and 2000 (before PlayStation 2 came along). They stopped making them this year though. OPSM2 used to be great but it's started to turn into an FHM for 12 year olds and the demos are pretty poor now too.

  5. I wrote in about the the christmas issue and the Getaway 2 screenshots and how poor the car dump looked - they actually wrote back and said it wouldn't be published because it was a sound game and that i was being unfair!

  11. I can't really say which mag is the best, since I've only read a few other ones. All I can say is that I'm very pleased with OPM and I wouldn't change it for another mag.

i love edge, i agree with their reviews more (though thats a very small part of edge). edge is made for ppl in the industry hence the reason its more interlectual and every couple of mags i have to go to the dictinary to see wot a word means heh
anyway they aslo get a lot less wrong then most mags. i stoped getting psm2 because they seemed to be getting more and more techy stuff wrong each issue. as for opsm most of the stuff on their is released on official playstation website first. and as for the demos im 2 bust playing games on the net at school and going out 2 play demos

  16. magazines = crap.

They have out dated news, reviews and pretty much everything else.

Use the net. Thats what its for.

Yeah, but it's funny how you know more than those game journalists.
Like when Opm said the title Gta: San Andreas was positively ruled out i had to hold my laugh seeing almost everyware that name was used and mentioned. I can't wait till the next mag so i can read them appoligising for their mistake.
The aim of an argument or discussion should not be victory, but progress

  19. Actually you probably know far, far less.

The information they write their magazines on is very outdated. So at the time, yea GTA: San Andreas was probably ruled out. Luckily companies arent spewing out every little secret to journalists or the public immedietly, huh?

well it depends on what area of knowledge, when it comes to tecky computing stuff well my sister knows more then they do
when it comes to gaming, sometimes they know stuff because they get showed by developers and made to sign NDA's. but when it comes to knowing about the industry itself and from bits of info that have been released when trying to work out what this means and wots most likely to happen, they again know nothing. u see game j.... are just avg gamers that do j........, and the avg gamer knows nothing unless he or she is told it.
the day mags actually work out that clock speed isnt a way to measure peformance i will eat my hat
