I have just got setup for this new DS Online Network and was wanting to know a few things. I recently setup a wireless router with a built in ADSL modem. The router transfers at 54mps and I currently have Broadband with a 256/128k plan.
Now with this is mind can someone answer a few questions that I have.
Aproximaltely how many people can I have playing online through my router before I experience decreased speeds in my connection?
Is this speed too slow if I want to have multiple users, lets say 4?
I know that the DS online system is not up atm but approximations would still be handy.
you should probably be able to have plenty of people on at once. w4 probably won't be a problem.
also, it IS a 802.11b/g router, right?
Big thanks to Ihsiin for the sig!

Yes it supports 802.11b/g.Originally Posted by Zeep
Can you put a distinct number on how many people though?
There is no way of knowing at the moment since we can't even speculate how much data will need to be moved per second on any given game.
I can say that it will vary per game as well. Metroid Prime Hunters will take up more data at once than say that poker game will.
Metriod Prime: Hunters is not going online though is it?Originally Posted by Viper
Do you think that the setup I have ATM will be sufficent though?
Yes, it sound like what you have now should work fine.

I think you should wait until Nintendo releases more details
Thats kinda gay. Metroid Prime Hunters must be online. There is no other way to do it. Thats just stupid if they don't implement the online feature.
I was going to say the same thing, since Nintendo hasn't said much about the online network. I remember hearing something about "approved hardware"... so who knows what's going on with that.Originally Posted by OutlawAdidas
Damn it, E3 didn't tell us alot about DS online
yeah, i was really hoping for a big demonstration of all the features, how it works, the interface, etc. maybe a small downloadable online minigame or something.

I'm just gonna wait for the Nintendo made/approved one.
I think its kinda lame though how you won't be able to just buy an adapter and just hook up a ethernet cable to it. Since the only hotspots I know of are at the mall...and I'm never in the mall, so I'll basically just be playing at home online.
I think that NST opted to have MP:Hunters offline so that they could setup ip a one cart multiplayer system. They still have time to change though. Advance WarsS has not been confirmed as online either which is disapointing, they need it to be online.
Nintendo will reveal more when the time comes. Hopefully that time is really soon.
Nintendo using wireless internet was a great idea considering that it is becoming even more popular. Also don't forget that Nintendo could setup the Revolution as a router.Originally Posted by Shayde
