    http://xbox.ign.com/articles/590/590573p1.html

Honestly if this next gen console doesn't bring a true REVOLUTION i wouldn't mind them selling to M$ and kicking ass on M$ console, they'd kill sony in the meantime

Tavis, don't forget that Trip Hawkins used to run 3D0 and they are where now? Dead, that's right so I'm not one to really accept his ideas for bussiness decisions. Army Men anyone?

Besides, MS already tried to buy them once for several billion dollars and N basically said go fuck yourselves. Nintendo makes approx a billion dollars a year in profit alone and retains full rights to all their products, why would they want to sell to anyone?

I fell over laughing when I read the title of this thread.

    People an their rumors.

  5. Never going to happen... notta. Nintendo makes plenty of money as it is, why would they sell? Just because their console didn't sell as much doesn't mean their broke and desperate! When was the last time you saw a Nintendo executive with patches on their clothing and holes in their shoes???

  8. They will still have a crap load of money left and they still will have the ds and maybe even the GBA (heaven help us) Just one console failure shouldn't be enough to kill a company, they lived through the virtualboy didn't they???

Tavis, they still make more from the GC than Sony and MS do from their home consoles. This perceived failure is a extremely sad perception by the mainstream media that is utter garbage.

MS has sold 19 million Xbox's
    N has sold 18 million GC's

Doesn't seem so bad now does it? Especcially when N makes money from theirs and always has and MS finally had a single profitable quarter that took Halo 2 selling 5 million copies to do. They will once again have a loss this quarter.

Even if the Rev sells less than the other two, they will still make a profit from it.

Because Nintendo's cares about more than just money, unlike Sony. Even if they were only in it for the money, they're still making a profit from consoles, so why stop?

No, he's talking about the hypothetical situation where the Revolution fails.

I've asked people this one question several times. Nobody has ever given me a logical answer, but I'm still asking it.

Why is it that people seem to hate Nintendo, but wan't them to go 3rd/2nd party so badly?

First of all this has already been posted, so I think most of us have taken the time to read about it.

Secondly, if you think Hawkins crystal ball is so clever then let me take the time to get into the details.

51% of the shares bellongs to Yamauchi, MS have tried aquiring Nintendo before, but failed because he refused to sell, if Nintendo will merge\be sold it must then be a result of a decision made by the person who inherits the shares from him, but that is not so likely, for several reasons, but to mention one - Nintendos shares are very valuable shares to have.

In fact, Nintendos marked shares are rated higher than even Sonys marked shares, which brings us to my second point; Nintendo have several billion dollars in the bank and profit every year, and even though they became number 3 in number of consoles sold they still became number 1 in profit earned this generation, not bad, eh?

And to finish this off once and for all, here is IGN's quote on the mather.

Well Trip Hawkins also thought that the 3DO would be successful. These ridicules statements about Nintendo have been going on for way to long and the whole time they have remained profitable and at the top of the industry. Why don't you try pointing out these facts when you publish garbage like that?

Matt responds: Trip is entitled to his opinion just as you are yours. Besides, our news section is not the place for us to make judgment calls like that. We'd rather just present the facts and let readers decide for themselves. That noted, you're reading mailbag now, and nothing prevents me from being a complete ass in here. Since that's true, I'll just say that Trip really should have checked that Magic 8-ball of his three of four years ago. I think it really would have helped a lot:

That's right, even IGN think his statement is ridiculous.
