Thread: Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt Review

  1. Thumbs up Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt Review

After Spending Four Hours in the Mall Today Playing and checking out the DS, I can finally write a good review on it. I must say it's far more better then I expected it to be.

The Beginning:The game opened up by the word Nintendo on the top screen and Presents on the Bottom Screen. Then it shows a short clip of Samus fighting some Metroids. Then comes the main menu. It consist of Training (since it is a demo only), Multiplayer, and Options. In the Options menu, you can input your name and choose from four different control types (more on the controls later).

Gameplay and Controls:There are three choices of Single Player Mode. Regulation, Survival, and Morph Ball Race. In regulation, you have unlimited lives and you go around trying to kill as much enemies as possible in ten minutes. Survival is the reverse. You have unlimited time to kill as many enemies as possible with only one life. Morph Ball Race is just like it's called, a timed race to see how many spheres you can get in a set amount of time. Now for the controls. The default control is using the touch screen and stylus for aiming, using L or R for shooting, tapping the touch screen twice to jump, and using the control pad to move around. I happen to find this the most comfortable way of controling the game. Another way is using the Touch screen to fire right at enemies by just tapping on them. This way however makes the game way too easy but I recommend it to people who cant coordinate the other way. The other two control options are the same as the previous two but just switched around alittle for lefties.

Multiplayer:Which I think is the best part about the demo. In the multiplayer menu, there are two options Start New Game(which allows you to host a game over a network) and Join Game(which allows you to join a game thats being hosted over a network). There are three arenas to choose from as well. Multiplayer is very fast paced but actually ALOT of fun. I'm telling you, get with a bunch of friends and you'll be happy for at least two hours. I played about five different people today. If anything, I think this game was meant for Multiplayer over Single Player.

    Now For the Numbers:

Gameplay: 8.5 Could Be Alittle Better
Graphics: 10 By far the Best Handheld Graphics I've Ever Seen. Way better then what the Pictures show.
Multiplayer: 10 Like I said earlier. THIS GAME ROCKS MULTIPLAYER MODE!
Single Player: 8 Could Be alot better. Hopefully some changes will accure in the real deal.
Controls: 9.5 Though confusing at first, after you get the hang of it, it's really easy.
Replay Value: 9 Thanks to the great Multiplayer mode.

Overrall: 9 A Great Way For Nintendo to start off the DS Reign.

Have You Played Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt? Tell me what you Think.

i dont know if i would give it that high, although i havent played a good game of multiplayer with 4 people though. The controls definitly should not get a 9.5.

I wish there was more to the 1 player.

the single player is not at all what the final game will be like. The final game will have a real campaign, I havent played multiplayer yet though I really want to.
I would give at least the single player demo a 7.

  6. Hey Viper, Do I get my credits for this Reveiw?
