So my Motorola Atrix 4G just recently shit the bed. It started with me no longer being able to enable wifi (as in not that I can't connect to wifi, I cannot even turn on the phone's wifi capabilities), and how progressed to the phone shutting itself off/resetting randomly. I tried a battery pull, factory reset, all that junk, to no avail. So now I'm looking for something new. Let me be very clear about one thing: ANDROID ONLY. Thoughts? Suggestions?
Oh, here's some relevant points:
-I don't care how good the camera is. Standard 8MPish is fine.
-I don't care how amazingly clear the display is, or how huge it is.
-Battery life is semi-important.
-I bought the Atrix for it's fingerprint scanner security abilities. It's unique features like that that really grab me.
-Size is also semi-important. Whatever I get will likely be wearing an Otterbox case, so I don't want to be carrying a brick in my pocket.
Galaxy Nexus, if you want the pure Android experience, with timely (and "guaranteed") updates to newer versions of Android. But there might be a new one coming very soon... the Nexus is rather cheap by now, though.

I really like the Samsung and Sony Android phones, depending on preference, I would get anyone of those lines from Galaxy or Xperia.
I just got an Xperia U for $200 unlocked. Sony's skin over android is very minimal, and the handset has one of those premium quality feels to it. Very reasonable price, attractive UI, but you have to upgrade to ICS by yourself atm...Galaxy devices are little more popular, so you will pay a bit more buying unlocked, but they have the more pure android support and easier/quicker updates to latest versions. Also, but companies seem to be releasing more and more internal memory only phones, which I don't like, but so many people have music on the 'cloud' I guess it doesn't bother as many people...
Anyway, that's my vote, I will likely stay withing the Galaxy/Xperia series for the foreseeable future, I've had good experiences with both. Xperia's are sexier and really stand out IMO from the crowd, even against iphones, while the Galaxy is usually an overall better Android experience and have better tech in them.

I don't think the GNex has a card slot... Since I don't need one (never max out my 8GB SGS1 either, and that does have a card slot), I don't care. Thing is, even the Gnex is a huge hunk already... the Sony Xperia... whatever (the top of the line model out) 4.3'' looks very nice, too.

I recently got the Galaxy S3. Nice big screen, runs everything very well. Has 16GB of memory plus a micro SD slot. One thing that I did not like about the galaxy s1 (phone i had before this) was that it took at&t and samsung forever to release an updated version of android. Yet I believe that is more of AT&T's fault than that of samsung.
It does have some 'neat' features but some that are completely asinine as well. For example there is a feature to mute your phone when you lay it screen side down. Well the speaker is on the back of the phone, so if you have it screen side up it's basically muted both ways.
But it performs well so far, has a very nice looking screen.
Yup, we call those "bricks", but once you start using them, the screen is totally worth it. It's light and slim anyway.

Agreed... I think the "huge phone" fad should stop, especially with the high end models. For me, 4.3'' is the absolute maximum, as I have rather small hands for a guy. Even 4.0'' (my SGS) is rather big already, but very well usable. But all "high end phones" start at 4.5'' or more. HTC One S works for me, too. The One X otoh doesn't. The GNex is already too big for me, sadly. The SGS3 is completely nuts.

You're buying right on the verge of a new generation of phones, so most should be cheaper right now. Personally would say the GNex is the best android phone on the market, but it doesn't have an SD slot. Also a little big.
To be honest, most top-ish end phones these days may be a little large for what you want.
Anything by Samsung. Once you go Swype, you can't go back to tapping text.
Actually, the new voice typing in Jelly Bean is awesome^^ Tried it today (yeah, hacked my SGS to run Jelly Bean (well not me, but I installed it))
Didn't like Swype either, but I don't text much, either.
