Now if only Germany follows suit... it's not as if we already have an "R" rating... but still our games get chopped up to "pass"... pisses me off.

The problem here is... although it's ILLEGAL to sell USK18 (R rated games or movies) to minors, it's still problematic, as a movie can (and most probably will be) banned, if it doesn't get a rating. Games (on consoles) won't get a release here, unless they are rated. They are safe, if they are rated (wasn't the case in the past, for example RE2 was rated 18, but was banned shortly after). So, to get at least USK18, they chop up the games massively. No blood or dismemberment in Bulletstorm. No violence in Fallout 3 or New Vegas... and the games STILL get a 18 rating, although it's less violent than a James Bond movie. And all that, because of the improbable chance that a minor might get his hands on the software (which he still can, via Internet or importing). On PC, you can at least get "Bloodpatches"... or you used to be able to... Steam, or rather Valve actively "disables" these patches or rather mods... that pisses me off.

It's just a mess. Why can't adults be treated like adults... banned games (at least most of them) can still be legally obtained by adults, but 99% of all stores don't carry them, and if they do, they are expensive as fuck... I still haven't played the new Mortal Kombat and I will never be able to play it only with my main account, as it has "project ten dollar", too. I have to use my UK or Austrian account to do so... great, isn't it?
