Yakuza 5: Person Who Fulfills Dreams

Thats a rough translation, will replace it with the real when we get one.
Sega appears to be going with a "5" theme for Yakuza 5. Joining the previously announced five cities, the game will also have five main characters. This is one up from previous titles, which have had at most four main characters.

The full Japanese name for Yakuza 5, as revealed in Famitsu this week, is "Ryu ga Gotoku 5: Yume Kanaeshi Mono." A rough (very rough) translation would be "Yakuza 5: Person Who Fulfills Dreams."

Really hope this gets localized, but with SEGA's recent money issues I kind of wonder if it will. This would be a terrible place to stop after localizing 4 others.

Dream fulfiller might have been less of a rough translation, although it still sounds ridiculous.

I guess the final title may be something along the lines of "true dreams", "utopia"...

Why am I caring about this... *shrugs*

    dreamer/dreamers

but they may sound even more ridiculous
    and i wouldn't even know...

Don't care what you call it, just localize the damn thing. Thought it might not matter as I plan to be living in Japan by next April

Yay.... no Psp/Vita game (at least I guess this, because it's a full number title). Still need to finish Yakuza 4, though.
    Kept you waiting

  7. They said they are rebuilding the foundation, I hope their idea of this isn't simply just adding more characters. I mean, how different are these 5 cities and characters, I didn't think the 4 characters in Yakuza4 were that different (same combo buttons, and I played almost identical with all).

I am a bit Yakuza'd out after Platinum'ing Y3 as Y4 is too similar in it's overall design, but I love this series regardless and can't wait for this. I just hope it really is something that shakes the series up.

You will play as a hostess and fulfill the dreams of lonely men everywhere as the Yakuza turns you into a prostitute and you must make enough money to keep them from killing someone you believe to be related to you but in the end is double crossing you for their own personal gain. The combo buttons will be used in an entirely different way as combos are no longer performed kicking ass on the streets, but taking it in the ass in the back alleys.

Funny part is, I bet someone in Japan has already made that game.

Sounds like one of those Japan-only games.

I mean that I was caring about the translation. Although it's true that I'm more of a forum lurker than a gamer lately (mostly due to a lack of interesting games to me).

You know i have to say Sega really need to step it up with this game because Sleeping Dogs seems way better and im also becoming a bit jaded with the same Yakuza formula over and over. Open world, better and seamless melee system, real world martials arts fighting choreography and animations, parkour plus street racing and gunplay. Not to mention it will probaly have a better story also. Sega really need to step it up with Yakuza 5. I hope this new engine doesnt make things pretty while leaving everything else that could use an update like gameplay and city traversal.

I am still hoping it gets localized, but by the time it does I will have to import it to...from U.S to Japan, lol. I would be really bummed though if it's never localized because this does seem like the biggest jump the series has made to date...

I really can't wait to see what this team does with next-gen with the already detailed environments they have. but new info with taxi driving and animal hunting.

    Kiryu Taxi-

Your goal in the Race Battle is to avoid other cars and construction areas and get to the goal first. You'll be able to customize your taxi, adding tires, turbos, wheels, body decals, and other items. While driving, you can drift and make use of special moves like "Explosive Race Heat Action" and "Secret Explosive Acceleration."

Outside of the Race Battle, you'll also be able to drive passengers to and from their destination. Famitsu shows Kiryu in conversation with his passengers.
    Saejima Hunting-

Saejima's Another Drama is described as "hunting survival." Equipped with a hunting gun, you'll need to use stealth to approach and catch beasts. You'll also be able to make use of traps to catch your prey.
    Haruka-

You'll need to help Haruka out in her live performances by playing a rhythm game. This involves tapping circle, triangle, square and X buttons as they move across a cursor. Different from the Hatsune Miku series, the cursor stays in one position. Sokuho says that it looks more like the rhythm-based games in Dream Club.

Outside of the rhythm game, you'll need to take part in hand shake meetings, where you use the d-pad to determine Haruka's reaction. You'll also take part in simple quiz programs, respond to magazine interviews, and make talk show appearances. These will contribute to Haruka's idol knowledge.
    Shinda Baseballin'
This, of course, is played like a batting mini game. As you bat, you'll learn skills, gaining the ability to make the ball slow down for instance. Shinada will also meet his former coach and will be able to strengthen his skills even further.

Once I beat dragons dogma, Yakuza 4 is next on my list. Then I figure it will be at least another year until this game comes out giving me enough time between games.
