See... I didn't spec that until WAY later. I usually make myself a "glass cannon" in such games... i.e. VERY powerful attacks, but massively bad defense. Some games punish you massively for this (DAO did, but only sometimes, like the fight in the massive forge against the golems) and others don't. Problem is mostly that it's always the bosses that "stop" you. The rest is too easy, which makes those games feel VERY unbalanced (though it IS partially my fault, I know that).

After reading the numerous good reviews on this game and it being 15% off on Steam, I purchased and DLed both the Witcher and Witcher 2. I'm starting witht he first one and about 1/5 through the game and really enjoying it. Glad I picked it up.

The first one is one HELL of a long game, too^^ My first run took me way over 40 hrs, and partway through this run I stopped doing sidequests, too^^ (I usually tend to lose interest in VERY long games, but the story and "world" is just great... so it only took away the sidequests from my radar).

This game makes time fast forward I swear. Opened it around 3pm I think, played for a "couple of hours", it is now 11pm........What.The.Fuck. lol. I didn't even do much, I just messed about with the 2ndry quests in Kaedweni camp.
Such a joy to play still, hopefully stays like this, as I am going to make it my first Platinum (aka- 1000 points) on 360. Is there a term for that on 360 btw?
@AC!D , out of pure curiosity, not inferring anything. How do you play these games? Saw that you didn't get the cheevo for winning the tourney in the camp so don't you bother with activities/2nd quests or only pick ones that interests you? And so on.
I for one dig into every corner I can find.

Absolutely no question about it in my book. I don't mean to step on toes but Skyrim bores the all living crap out of me. There is nothing (except maybe the architecture) Skyrim does better than this game.
New Vegas being among my favs, also gets pwned by this game as I found the fighting in NV (in fact all 2 of the 3D Fallouts) very unsatisfying. And while NV had great writing, this game has amazing writing, while Nv had captivating characters, this game has even better ones. And where NV had a bad overall story, this one has an awesome one.
So yeah, best RPG overall for me. But Western? Developers 'CD Projekt RED' are Eastern European (from Poland to be exact). Witcher/Witcher2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, Metro 2033...EE guys are having a proper good time showing the rest how it is done![]()

Poland... I'd consider this pretty western... though your definition might differ.
In any case... It's good that Bioware has a competent competitor in this genre. DA2 took a massive nosedive, whereas TW2 got better on all fronts. As was said before, Skyrim also bores me to tears. The writing (overall, plus story and arch and interconnection between all the stuff you're doing) is so much better in this, it's hard to describe.

@masteratt
I didn't run into any tournament. Im guessing this is because we chose different paths at the end of act one. Im nearly at the end of act one on my second hard run and i intend to enjoy the new act 2 fully.

Wow it differs that much huh? Awesome. How is Hard treating you so far (is Hard = Dark btw)?
I am definitely jumping to Dark straight away for next playthrough. For cheevo along with I think this game will be more badass on hardest difficulty. And learning about the armour set is awesome as well.
That's something I honestly didn't expect from this game. It's amazing they have that many variants given how much focus and awesomeness the story has.
I really did not do this game justice by posting impressions after only one play through. Im freaking amazed how much the story changed. Characters i never met in my first play but were mentioned in conversations played major roles in my second play. The endings were also superb in that they related to all your choices made in the game. Bioware take massive fucking notes. The writing in this game is superb. Was this game even nominated for best story in a game last year? This game is almost two games in one. Its very risky what they did because most ppl will never play this twice but i applaud CD project. This game is defenitely my current GOTY contender. Stunning game!!!
Good to hear (still need to actually start my second run, more than a year after I first played the game^^)... what I don't "like" in this game, though this is not a biggy for me, is that you can't choose a class. But you can spec more in either direction, so it's a bit moot.

Are there any good paths for you guys? I went through the Trainer (got everything 2/2 on that path) and in the other stuff...Nothing really jumped outAny key skills I should be chasing?
Normal got too easy now that I learnt the game to be honest, I don't feel I need an upgrade on anything. I know you can up the difficulty in option any time but I started Normal so want to finish Normal.
One thing I love about this game is side stories. They are not made to make the game last for 50984029 hours, they are interesting little stories in the towns and I actually want to do them. I am not even done with Chapter 2 yet (keep messing about with side stuff), but I can't think of a reason not to give it 10/10 so far. Fantastic game.
Ive found that mixing and matching is best. I usually get VIgor and vitality on the training path and as soon as the sword path opens up get doge and backstab defence ASAP. After dodge get Aard on the magic side because this is the best magic in the game. After this i get extra bomb and trap damage in alchemy. Yrden magic is next and then basically work paths on all three sides to get extra vigor, vitality sword damge and damage reduction. I did get to the adrenaline finisher move on my first play but i preferred heliotrope on the magic side as it slows down time and you guys know backstab damage is epiic in this game. I havent really delved into alchemy much though.
@masteratt I found my hard play through ridiculously easier than my first normal playthrough except for the third chapters boss so skip straight to Dark like i should have done. Also what the hell is this cheevo thing you keep mentioning? I competed in the tournament and i cant recall any object or person named Cheevo?

Having internet problems there AC!D? double posts everywhere
Cheevo is the 'brit' term for achievements haha. Sorry about that. When you win the tournament at the camp (one where Ves is the last opponent) in Chapter 2, you get the achivement/ cheevo.
My PC is bust and im typing on my Vita sorry. The funny thing is for some reason i cant edit my posts on my Vita or reply with quotes. Fuck i hope they update this browser soon. I hardly use my PC anymore so i wonder If i shoulnt just get an Ipad. How are the browsers on those?
I used my sister's iPad for a bit, browser much better than VITA's I can tell you that much![]()
I'd rather get a small netbook-ish laptop (not an atom system, but similar size)... you'll be able to do much more with it AND pay less for it, too. But that's just me.
