Everybody I know that has a core i5/i7 CPU (2500/2600/2700 Sandy Bridge) has them clocked in the 4+ Ghz range and most are running on the stock cooler. Same goes for the enthusiast sites I peruse.

These chips Turbo Clock themselves to 3.7, 3.8 or 3.9 Ghz anyway. That means they are designed to operate at that speed.

not me. Although I don't have the k model. Also don't want to take the risk or shorten the life span any.

ive always clocked me desktops to stable max and always laster 5+yrs & beyond. but ya Viper stock fans are good just if ya got it might aswell use it. and the i5 2500k seems to be the most recomended even over the new ivy bridge.

ok so gave mate the old (new) big fan lol & bought another its a COOLERMASTER Hyper 412 slim Dual fan setup. put together and away she goes clocked it straight up to 4.6 all good so i ran OCCT cpu tester highest temp was 62c while testing with cores at 100% sat at about 58/60c with OCCT im stunned at the difference as with oem fan it took 24sec to hit 90c lol im thinking it was faulty somehow as it never even sped up. it idled at 24c at 4.6 but ive taken it back to 4.1 as i have no need for it to run at 4.6+ lol

The only thing that confuses the fuck out of me about that card.

    "GIGABYTE Ultra Durable VGA Series"

    It has no VGA port...

    Looks like a good card.

If you write out VGA, it makes sense... VGA stands for Video Graphics Array... and most DVI outputs have the analog signal passed through and can be accessed via an adapter...
    Kept you waiting

AMD's HD 7970 Ghz Edition outperforms nVidia's GTX 680 and the new drivers for the original HD 7970 have moved it past the GTX 670 and on par with the GTX 680. Might be one of the best driver updates they've ever done.

Now where the hell is the HD 7990?

7970 is still like 500$, screw the 7990, unless it drops the price of the 7970 considerably.

$500? Maybe at Best Buy or something. I can get one from Newegg for $410.00.

I do suspect the HD 7990 will push the price of the HD 7970 down just a little ($10-$20 perhaps) but I'm more interested in it academically than from a consumer angle.
