CBS Interactive owns Metacritic, Gamefaqs and Gamespot.
Weird/interesting part of this is that some people might remember the Kane & Lynch, Gamespot, and Jeff Gerstmann ultimately getting Gerstmann fired because of his less then positive review. and now he and the others at Giant Bomb will be working in the same building as Gamespot.
Will be interesting to see how this turns out as the original idea of Giant Bomb was to get away from corporate control.
Edit:They will explain the story behind the firing at 4PM PDT
Meh... I don't like this... GB was, for me, the only really reliable source, besides blogs and such. Really sad.

They will still be in complete control of the content.

The whole firing story will be revealed at 4 PM PST on their site and Gamespot's site, local times check:http://www.timeanddate.com/worldcloc...0315T16&p1=224
Oh, the irony: Gerstmann is part of the MAN again.
"A-I-D-A. Attention, Interest, Decision, Action. Attention - Do I have your attention? Interest - Are you interested? I know you are, because it's fuck or walk. You close or you hit the bricks. Decision - Have you made your decision for Christ? And Action." (Alec Baldwin in Glengarry Glen Ross)

I see a steady decline... sadly. For now, it'll stay as it is, but in the future it will change... I dunno... I am pretty sad.

I just hope it's still around come E3, their live stream video podcasts that week are great.
they always had editorial integrity? LOL.
So... it was exactly as most people thought it was^^ Quite expected yet disappointing^^ Though I absolutely do agree with Jeff on the front that the developers and other workers (unrelated to him getting fired) getting shot at left and right. Nobody is better off after that.
One thing that makes me... feel secure about their decision to go back to Gamespot is... Jeffs attitude towards this. I mean, both this video and the livestream yesterday... they convey the intention of really being happy about this etc. I hope it'll turn out well for them and of course for their readers.

not much of a reader but i kind of enjoy their quick looks
and bombcasts
and love their idea for e3 coverage
(getting alot of devs in one room + drinks)
so i hope they will keep delivering
and maybe even get better
with more gamestop tech and resources
becasue it sounds like that was the point of this deal.
Yeah, used to love Gamespot in the Gerstmann days. It was real gamers (i.e. fat, bearded and pasty, sitting in a chair snacking playing video games does not make you look like David Beckham), really geeky girls and stuff reviewing games, I liked that. Unlike the IGN weird fantasy where people like this:
Are sat in every friday night replaying Castlevania SOTN.... Suuuuure they are.
Stopped reading that site after the big bruhahaha. Giant Bomb wasn't japanesey enough for me, too XBoxxy.
Yea, I realized that after hearing more information, plus John Davison is one of the higher ups who is pretty good. I can't wait to see what they'll be able to do with the new power they have.
Listening to their latest podcast with Adam Sessler, got a lot of interesting stories from the 90s from old Gamespot days and ZD TV before it was Tech TV, worth a listen for the first hour or so.
