Thread: HALO 4

  1. This game has one of the best lighting engines, without a doubt. Looked superb in Reach, looks even better here. Yes I am aware the screens are probably touched up, but so much is my confidence in the lighting engine that it's not out of the question for it to look that good for real.

And yeah I dig the helmet edges in the HUD as well.

Looks good, still has some kind of plastic look to it, but I guess that's typical halo.
Lighting is fantastic and the HUD etc. are neat.

It certainly looks rather nice. I have to agree with the "women in sci-fi games" trope though: really, it's kind of distracting at times.

It struck me when I was playing Mass Effect 2. You head after a character who has encountered untold physical trauma, who has lived a life of perpetual conflict, and who is still lips and tits. It takes me out of the experience for there never to be any ugly people. Credit to Rockstar for including more physically realistic characters, but that only applies to males - women still seem to be seen as necessitating physically attractive characteristics.

I don't like political correctness, and it's not for that reason I'm moaning, I'm just weary of such wild inaccuracies permeating a medium. Fact: most people aren't sexy.

So if you don't eat pigs and we don't eat pigs,
Why not not eat pigs together?

  5. Rockstar put fat prostitutes in GTA, what else do you want man For realz though I thought Mallorie in GTAIV was a very realistic looking girl and she was a main[ish] character. Rockstar's problem is the main character, as most of them are 30ish males and along with expansion on that, there also have been calls for a female protagonist.

Stepping off the Rockstar train, Elena from Uncharted is also pretty realistic looking. In fact she is pretty much modelled after the actress, who is not a super model looker by any means.....God this is a subject hard to talk about without offending women. I find her attractive so when I say not super model look, I mean the predefined set definitions of "attractive" that games like ME and HALO follow.

So there are a few girls like that in games. And here is a spin, there are 'average' looking girls in games but we as men just don't notice them. Why would we, they are average. Again this is not bad lol.....This is like saying "we don't want to hire super famous actors to not distract from story" so it'll be "we don't want super hot model looking girls to not take away from the story.". Yeah that's it, phew.

So what I am saying is, come to think of it, there are more devs that do it right than "wrong", not that it is wrong to have all female super hot looking with "perfect" bodies but as said above, does kind of stick out negatively for mature minds.

So we now know that this game requires an 8GB install. what about all the people that have no HDD or only 4GB? The standard HDD argument rears its ugly head again. But how are 360 owners responding to this; the same people that went on and on about compulsory installs on a console that HAD standard hard drives in every machine. I have to say that 360 owners are a breed of their own. At one moment passive, reciprocal to any nefarious dealings from their beloved MS, and on the other venomous, poking at the small wounds another company inflict on their customers. Take a look at a snap shot:

Hm... interesting that MS starts doing it now for their own high profile games... it's just for the MP, though... and I guess most hardcore gamers have an HDD anyways, or else they couldn't have bought any DLC (MS knows this, as they have all the stats).

The only thing about this I don't like is, that MS doesn't provide the ability to use standard HDDs... the MS branded ones cost ten times as much and are small... But they also allow USB sticks to do the same now... so it's rather irrelevant now. They could as well sell an "MP pack" that includes a 16GB stick, so you can play the MP.

yeah, that's cool you can use a USB stick for your 360 drive...

Still, buying a cheap 50GB laptop drive and replacing your console's stock one is just something I really love doing for my PS3, made it very personal...
