Didn't expect that... I really liked Sim City on my Amiga, back in the day... though later on, I found that they grew to complex for short stints (similar to Civ4... 5 remedied that to a degree).
    Kept you waiting

Never could get the hang of Sim City 2000 back in the day. Then again, I was like 10 years old.

  4. The water pipe systems were a bitch.

And this is the only game where if you get bored, you have more fun (i.e: unleash disasters when you are bored of your city to destroy it).

Man the hours I sank into non existing cities and scenarios.

I always wished for a more mayor decision making and more active mayor role. SC4 had a bit more of it but moar and moar is needed! Hopefully they expand on that aspect and judging by the art that shows someone giving a speech, maybe they will.

Early days though, report up there says it's only about 30% done and Maxis doesn't want to show the game due to it not looking good enough for their taste (as they said polishing touches come much later on).

Let's see what we get at GDC.

Definitely a good time to upgrade the PC. Always need it with a new SimCity game.

Damn it looks good. Will be a GPU review benchmark title for a few years.

I'd like to see them offer various levels of user input requirements. Like an expert mode that requires a very detailed, hands on mayor, an intermediate that automates a few functions based on some general preset questions or actions taken by the player and a part time mayor option that will allow you to build a great city for those with limited time to put the effort into it.
The current US government is the type of government the founding fathers fought against and warned us about.

Yep on all accounts. I said in my 2nd post here about how I want mayor functions to improve vastly. I didn't like what SC4 did though with you being able to build a land around your city and play with those. I want ONE city control, more immersion and you get tied to your city....Until you know, you get bored and wreak havoc on it.

Hopefully it's late 2013 for selfish reasons as it would make it more feasible for me to get a desktop PC built for gaming, make it ultra nerd powered and for the love of god make it quiet. My laptop is doing OK but it's way underpowered [bought it for work more than gaming] and damn the fans get annoying as heck, not to mention the heat and the uncomfortable cramped keyboard etc ("just get USB plugins" I know but I don't want 50 things sticking out of the laptop).

    Looking epic

  13. That guy sounds way too happy. Fuck that guy.

  15. Happy? The only thing I noticed was his INCREDIBLE handlebar moustache.

That thing was taking over the whole screen, even video! Lol.

This was the most revealing video I think I've seen trailer wise. The gameplay walkthroughs were good, but we finally got a peek at police chases, firetrucks, and robberies and stuff. That's the stuff I wanted to see. Even the following the individual car? It's really ridiculous how much is simulated through their engine.

And the city we've seen in this one totally destroys any other city gameplay we have seen. This one had huge skyscrapers with that stadium/town building (can't remember) in the middle of the screen. That looked way too good.

    I'm afraid to play it.

I'd lose a year or two of my life from it.

  17. Multiregion control by a single player, online play, crime generating random graffiti, building upgrades and disasters and firefighters... all in one video,

    Best gameplay video yet!

I just watched several years of my life getting sucked away.

  19. SimCity 5 Opening FMV: http://www.destructoid.com/here-s-th...o-242081.phtml

That ending where the camera pulls away from the street is pulling at my heartstrings. Looks like the SC3000 box cover. Sighs.

  20. Registration open for SC5 beta: http://www.simcity.com/en_US/beta/info

Just a chance to get in, not anything else.

I wasn't sure how to answer their lame ass questions, so I just assumed what SC5 developers want in a beta tester and answered like that lol.

    I like social games! No I don't
