It's not that they shouldn't fight you off... my problem is, they can lunge at you from a great distance and always take away box of energy. That wasn't the case in RE4 or 5 (iirc). And you only have like 6 boxes overall. It's a design change I don't approve of. But I can live with it, if I had either more herbs or more ammo. Also, some "cutscenes" kill you off, without you knowing what to do, making this game turn into a trial and error based gameplay (the trains, the swat car, Leons first chapter). There's little you can do about it, unless you know about it. And if you don't act before it happens (at least in case of the swat car), you'll just die. That's just cheap, in my opinion.
And yes, I know how to play the game (d'uh).

So... finished Chapter 3 of Leon... this game is becoming a chore. Also, the "storytelling" (if you could call it that) is a joke... Leon is like "tell me what is going on", and all replies from people are in the vein of "I'll tell you later" or "It's a long story" (and leaves) or "You wouldn't believe me". What the heck is that? There's no motivation. At first, it's like the girl says "We need to go to A", then you are at a... and after that (Chapter 3), you have like... no goal. Just go from A to B without real reason (well, there's a main "quest", but that's MUCH less involved here).
I dunno yet. I want to like it (hence I press on regardless), but... it's somehow not good. Now I have barely scratched the surface, but the controls/gameplay design (as in "invi frames" etc, not that it's an tps) won't change until the end. At least I can't see how it would.
EDIT: I got to say, though... the bossfights are rather nicely designed.
EDIT: I take back everything good I said about "nicely designed bossfights"...

Wanted to ask about the rope section in which I think is in the Leon campaign, I've heard several people insisting that it was the worse QTE every, anyone have that much of a problem with it?
i would ask what happened but it's probably funnier not to know so never mind. @AC!D must be getting such a headache from this thread![]()
It's simple just press L1and hold...then R1and hold before you release L1.. Think of it like climbing in real life. You can't alternate because one hand always needs to hold till the other is in a position to hold then can you only release the first hand and climb.
Also most ppl don't know this but if you get a QTE that asks you rotate the left stick you should rotate both sticks and it goes even faster. For some reason Capcom communicate this poorly in the game. Keep throwing them at me . I don't fuck around when i play games. I try everything and that goes for Xcom and Dishonored also if anyone needs any tips.
Yea, I could see that but I just find this type of discussion interesting it's really hard for me to ignore. You don't see many games that have such a divided reaction to it these days and since I don't have the money to buy it I have only second hand info to go off of.
Neogaf has a thread about many of the mechanics that weren't taught in the game.

"Hey guys we made shit loads of improvements....that we'll keep secret." - Capcom
??????????? What an odd game.
Or they relied on the fact everyone played the game with as much interest as @AC!D and left the discovery to the gamers. Which I guess is a good angle![]()
No that's one thing i can't defend them on. Now Dishonored is a game where discovery is cool but the clown that designed the prologue tutorial in RE6 is just plain bad at his job. The snipers in the Chris campaign kicked my ass till i found out about L1 and circle to sick you AI partner on them to take off bit of heat. If anyone needs a partner ill be happy to help and show you just how hardcore and fun the new action controls can be.
Great article and im glad more ppl are starting to speak out. Read on sheep.... http://dailycollegian.com/2012/10/19...s-more-credit/
That climbing QTE is "easy" if you know how (I listened to the GB podcast from last week, which answered this question). Basically, never let go of both buttons, just alternate between letting go...
And... I couldn't care less what "people" say about this game... I "play" it, and I don't think it's well designed gameplay... but maybe it gets better... I sure hope it does.

It could just be me but i stop playing poorly designed games and especially ones i rate 5 or under hence why you will never see me post those scores in the games finished thread because i never finish them. If it's that bad just stop playing.
I usually finish all games, unless I get bored. I'll probably finish RE6, but it's a long ass game, so it might take a while.

Update coming in December to adjust camera
Capcom is pleased to announce that, in response to player feedback, a free title update for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Resident Evil 6 will be made available in mid-December. This update includes the following additions and improvements:
- Gamers will be able to adjust the camera to give a greater field of view as best suits their play style. Screenshots illustrating the new camera and co-op features can be found on Capcom’s press site. The camera screenshot pairs show the minimum and maximum range of the new camera setting. Please note that this feature is still in development and may change without further notice before the title update is released.
- Subtitle options have been improved so that English language audio can be combined with subtitles in an alternative language.
- As recently announced, Ada Wong’s campaign will be unlocked from the start and have an optional player-controlled co-op partner added. It was previously necessary to complete all three other campaigns in order to unlock Ada’s story.
- 'No Hope’ difficulty level will be added above the existing levels, for players who want an extreme challenge.

December? Great^^ Like I'll still be playing by then... but still... I'd prefer a camera that isn't as close to the protagonist as this.

Apparently it's a rating for Resident Evil Revelations (3DS) coming to 360, and they say there's a PS3 rating as well. I would have expected it to be released on Vita (as well), but who knows.
I only had time to finish Leon's campaign, can't say I loved the controls and the terrible camera. I guess I'm waiting for the update to even consider playing again.

If there is a Vita version i'll pick it up. If not Capcom can stick it.
I finally had the chance to download the 1.03 update and test it. The game feels MUCH better now, with a wider view field AND being able to aim where the camera is focusing. Those two options alone make it feel more Uncharted-ish in terms of camera, which favors the experience. I had previously been able to finish Leon's campaign with the original camera, and even with tweaks it was a pain in the ass, always having to make Leon walk towards where I wanted to aim. I wish they had released the game as it is now.
That said, the game feels somehow worse than RE5 to me. I still haven't experienced 3 of the 4 campaigns, but it seems less polished than previous titles. I also find it worse in terms of graphics, which I guess has something to do with the much bigger scale and more characters on screen.

The camera aim option was there before the patch FYI. I don't know what possessed them to have the character aim as default. The game was almost unplayable for me like that. Glad to hear you are happier with the new wider view though.

I'm afraid I missed that. I guess it's because there are fewer camera options in-game, although I always check all game menus. Sucks.
