http://ps3.ign.com/articles/121/1216844p1.htmlFor the first time in Resident Evil history, Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield will both be playable characters in Capcom's ambitious six main entry in its survival horror series. Sources within the development team have started to give IGN a broad picture of the game's scope, which certainly seems larger than any Resident Evil title we've seen so far. This news comes on the heels of the leaked logo and release date for the game.
Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy will not be alone in this new game. Both Chris and Leon will have unnamed partners of their own, teaming up in similar fashion to the Chris Redfield/Jessica Sherawat and Jill Valentine/Parker Luciani pairings in Resident Evil Revelations. Sources tell us Chris and Leon will have seperate stories in the game that will eventually overlap in some capacity.
We're also told Ada Wong will have a playable role in the game, though not immediately. It appears as though the Ada storyline will become available to players after the Chris and Leon arcs have been completed, plus a third primary narrative featuring a new character. Any of the three main story branches will be selectable early on in the game, allowing players to see each storyline through to completion before starting another one.
Resident Evil 6 is also set to take place across the globe, including China, which has been an often-rumored location for months. VentureBeat reports the RE6 development team is the "same internal Japanese team that has worked on previous entries." That same report suggests this game is being styled after both Resident Evil 4 and 5, attempting to find a middle ground between horror and action.
Any word on which dev team is developing this one? I dont want to give IGN the hit!
Hopefully Capcom internal Japanese studios with full-blown MT framework engine.
Say what you will about RE5, but I still can't get over how good RE5's cutscenes are.

Right now this is a leak so there is no official word.
There is a stream for something, not sure what it is exactly

True... graphics wise, RE5 was one of the best looking games this generation, and it's a multiplatform games, too...
The problem with this game wasn't the graphics... it was the gameplay and story. It was a poor rehash of RE4... but REALLY poorly done. Rehash doesn't cut it... it could be called HD Remake, if we exchange the characters of Chris with Leon and Sheva with Ashley (?) and "spanify" the enemies.

SAN MATEO, Calif. — Jan. 19, 2012 — Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, is very proud to announce that Resident Evil® 6 is in full development and scheduled for release on the Xbox 360 ® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system on November 20, 2012 with a Windows PC version to follow. Blending action and survival horror, this latest instalment in the multi-million selling franchise is the most ambitious, immersive and feature rich title of the series to date and promises to be the dramatic horror experience of the year.
It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President’s side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world’s population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left.
In a first for the franchise, Resident Evil 6 sees series favorites Leon and Chris come together to face this unprecedented threat. They will be joined by new characters, each with their own unique perspective and involvement, in this relentless dramatic horror experience enacted on a global scale.
“Resident Evil 6 represents a giant stride forward in the evolution of the series,” commented Katsuhiko Ichii, Head of R&D and Global Marketing. “The development team, led by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, is working tirelessly to deliver the most impressive Resident Evil® title ever both in terms of scope and production values. We are all genuinely excited by the title and cannot wait to share it with the world.”
Hiroyuki Kobayashi, Resident Evil 6 Executive Producer added: “From the outset the team’s intention was to create an experience that delivers a gripping storyline, tense single-player and co-op action all set against a constant theme of horror. We are calling this fusion dramatic horror and are confident it will resonate with both existing fans of the series as well as newcomers.”

Hmm... not sure what to think of this. Looks great and all, but it also looks very RE5-ish.
Kept you waiting
agreed.
and the graphics in the trailer do look even better
but somehow it doesn't excite me as much as first trailers for re5
now i need something more to be fooled
and sadlly the gameplay doesn't look that different.
it was sad when i saw that in re5 when you hit enemy
and he is in the middle of some animation it just finish this animation
and the hit doesn't even count.?!
it was ok in ps2 era
but now things like that just break the immersion and eventually the game for me.
they should look into what rockstar is doing to max payne 3
to keep the gameplay fresh and fun around this times
not only focus on better looking characters and assets.
Felt way too 'Japanese developers trying to be American'. I don't know why everyone is so keen to follow that artistically shallow direction (oh wait, $$$$).
And yeah the gameplay bits didn't excite me in any way either, oh well.
Hmm, I thought Leon's part reminded me more old school RE, the rest just goes off in a random tangent. I wouldn't be surprise if there was two independent groups working on this.

It looks good, but it feels rather off. I don't know what to think.

RE5 is certainly the weakest of the mainline canon, in part because it ceased being a horror game and wound up being a straight-up action game with grotesque monsters. The story got some decent mileage with the Chris/Jill/Wesker material, but overall the game was a bit underwhelming. I do hope the game returns to the survival horror aspect that the original games had. RE4 was certainly creepier compared to 5, but it's not survival horror. Leon's story definitely had that feel of Resident Evil 2, my favorite game in the series to date. Chris's felt more like a cross between Modern Warfare and Gears of War. A little schizo for my taste, but we'll see what happens.
Will RE6 be good? Probably. At least we're finally getting a real Resident Evil game and not another re-imagining or rail shooter or some other cheap knock-off. Bringing Chris and Leon together along with Ada is an interesting pairing and I hope other characters like Jill, Barry and Rebecca show up in some capacity. I remain optimistic, but this series is skating on very thin ice right now. After RE4 they haven't had any real progress. That was seven years ago this month.
"A-I-D-A. Attention, Interest, Decision, Action. Attention - Do I have your attention? Interest - Are you interested? I know you are, because it's fuck or walk. You close or you hit the bricks. Decision - Have you made your decision for Christ? And Action." (Alec Baldwin in Glengarry Glen Ross)
My stories, Coercion, and Avarice, and Conduit available for the Kindle.
I guess i'm just more surprised this series still has a story to tell.
I wonder about that, too. If there is a story it'll involve Ada and it'll likely make Leon the central character because he still has some unfinished business emotionally and Ada's role as the operative for whatever group she's now running with will likely be the end of this. I mean, after this, what more can they do apart from re-telling the same damn story over and over again?

This announcement was completely out of left field lol. The Leon parts looked absolutely stunning, but I'm a little skeptical on the Chris parts. Anyways, I'm honestly blown away by the production values of this title. I just hope it isn't just a giant RE5 with more cinematic moments.
That trailer sure has my thumbs up though!
They definitely added more cinematic action. Dont know what to think yet but it looks amazing!!! Better than RE5 anyway.
Well... I am all for "cinematic experience"... but the gameplay needs to be redone. As much as I liked RE5 back when it was released, it wasn't I game I'd replay several times like I did with RE1-4 (and that's actually a thing that doesn't happen that often for me).
