Jimmy Fallon video

they chose to play it in exactly the same way as e3. that was a little stupid if you ask me. this is not going to do anything to dispel the scripted comments

Eh, identical to E3 demo. I read a tweet they were going to play it differently, obviously not.
They have had a ton of closed door gameplay previews written on that scene so the only ppl championing the scripted notion are the usual anti Sony brigade or stupid ppl who cant read. Probably the same idiots who are currently abusing the Ubisoft presenter.

The sad fact is the shotgun to the face got the biggest cheer at their conference so you have to figure going the action route is going to sell you more copies than the stealth demo route. The only gamers that care about choice are the core gamers and we already know. We dont need the Fallon show to tell us.

i agree. it is a sad indication of how gamers and journalists have changed when the biggest cheers are for Joel staving someone's head in on a bookshelf and blowing a face off with a shot gun, but i trust ND not to promote it this way. in fact i think they'll avoid it deliberately
Um, obviously not lol.
In fact I think they are selling it on the fact "look, this isn't Uncharted, it's a much more gritty and gruesome world". And showing how the grittiness transfers to the combat is one of the easier ways of doing that.
I don't know what the fuss is though. I guess internet is not believing what ND is saying about different ways to play? I personally just wanted to see a different way to play it not for any other reason other than just wanting to see a different playthrough.
i'm not so sure. yes they showed that scene at E3 and yes it had violence in it but in all the interviews prior to E3 and following E3, ND have focused on the story and emotional connection between the two main protagonist. they wouldn't want that message buried under a shallow perspective, so i think it's a given that the story and emotions will take centre stage for the large part
Yeah they'll sell that part too. I was specifically replying to the bolded part where you said they'll avoid selling it on violence. As with E3 and now this showing, that obviously isn't the case.
And we agree overall. I would love a trailer with some nice music and it's all about just Ellie and Joel. The very first trailer was more my taste than this showing (though I obviously enjoyed that this was actual gameplay). At the same time though, I think they'll be careful not to give much away as far as characters go.
you have a good point there. trying to show the emotions between to two character without giving integral scenes away could be a problem. perhaps some scenes of foraging would be the way to go with spot conversations connecting the two? I really don't want to see the infected until release though. i'd sooner just see the same scenes played in a variety of different ways and not see much more of the environments. now i actually have a PS3 the spoiler tags will be useful for me
All my gripes about Uncharted=Fixed in TLOU...
Great job on taking that foundation to a completely new direction![]()
In Uncharted, after the second game improved and fleshed out Drake's move-sets, I always felt the controls were a little lackluster for me. A stealth, survival game IMO blends a lot better with a heavy animation, realistic control scheme. The slow pace of the title won't make me want Drake to handle like Ryu or Dante, and the realistic animations will be even more appreciated here than in Uncharted as encounters are more rare and intense. We all are somewhat disappointed in E3 but I think that's just the internet ruining it for us. when it comes down to the games, there's still studios pushing beyond what we expected. Takes a bit to impress me as well, Naughty Dog has my full attention on this one.

Nor can there be a greater proof of its decadence than the fact that the nearer people are to the Church, the head of their religion, the less religious are they.”
