Thread: Skyward Sword?

  1. I'd agree with that. Still would be middle of the pack Zelda even with a GCN controller because the fundamental issues remain.

Honestly the Capcom Zelda's Oracle of Ages/Seasons are better than SS

I can't help but "shake" the feeling that i've kept the wii just to play this game and it controls in many ways worse than TP did for the GC.

Unfortunate you feel that way, because I totally disagree. The controls were a high point for me and I never encountered any problems. Aside from the aiming being off a couple times, but a quick button press to calibrate it fixed the problem instantly. I can understand motion controls not exactly resonating or appealing to everyone, but I found them completely fine in Skyward Sword and in no way broken.

They work terribly, and you should feel bad for liking them.

  5. 90% of the time I didn't have a problem with them. I thought they worked very well and it felt like a natural extension of what worked in Twilight Princess. It was that last 10% where things became a problem. As I said before, Nintendo put a premium on accuracy for this game because they wanted realism. In theory, that's not a bad idea, but when the wiimote has never been the most precise piece of machinery, even with the motionplus, then you've got a problem on your hands.

Dan, check your Wii remotes. I have one that doesn't play well with WM+ at all. If that were my only Wii remote, I'd hate WM+. Snap on to one of my other remotes and it's a whole different experience.

I have a few different wm+ dongles and controllers. I'll try it out tomorrow and see if that helps. Good suggestion Jim.

I bought the zelda bundle w/WM+ if that doesn't work right then fuck this thing all the way to hell

I wish this was an exaggeration but diagonal strikes only work maybe a 1/3 of the time if I am lucky.

Changed the controller and everything last night, and it didn't help a bit. I really don't know if I have changed this much, but this game is frustrating the heck out of me. I'm in the desert temple, and all of the quicksand is really irritating. Like it feels as if it is put there just to make the game take longer, and not as a competent addition to the game.

I'll try to continue tonight, as I'll have a solid 3-4 hours to play when I get home, but... I don't know if I'm going to make it through this one. I have put Batman: AA and the first two Uncharted games behind this one on the schedule for the holiday season, and I'm really starting to regret it. I've always been a huge Zelda fan and enjoyed the games, but this one is trying my patience.

I was weak. I stopped playing Skyward Sword and popped in Arkham Asylum instead.

I have not regretted my decision.

  11. Damn straight, hard to beat the Bat when it comes to adventure this gen (both AA and AC, though overall I liked AA better by a tiny margin).

I will get this though, we have a Wii sitting at home, so might as well. I always enjoyed Zelda games, though oddly never finished any :/ So I'll just play this and get as much enjoyment as I do.
