MS will release a very very powerful machine, and this AMD Radeon 7xxx could be just in the pre alpha development kits, who knows.
We are made of the same stuff of dreams
Depends on what 7xxx chip they use. If it's just an HD 7570, don't expect too much more than what we already have. And it certainly won't be based on the Tahiti or Pitcairn chips (79xx and 78xx respectively) as the wattage and temps are just too high.
As for switching to an HD 8xxx chip for actual retail units, doubtful. They need to be use a chip that already has stable yields and production by the time it launches and that won't be the case with the HD 8xxx series (known as Sea Islands).
I'll reserve my judgment for when I get some "real" leaks. IGN can bite me :P

After the XBOX Ten, now it's XBOX 8
http://www.thisisxbox.com/360/epic-g...soles-already/
Considering 360 was released in 2005, a high-spec gaming PC’s in Q2 2012(7 years time frame) in a close environment makes a bigger leap over 360 compared to XBox/360 (4 years time frame). We'll see.Recently we reported that alpha forms of the next-generation Xbox console which could be named “XBOX 8″ – not 8 because it’s the eighth Xbox, but because it’s the eighth generation home console and heavily shares the same software as upcoming Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. It was reported to us that the next-gen console was on display by invite only during CES 2012, running a version of Battlefield 3 in next-gen visuals – most likely to be up on par with current high-spec gaming PC’s.
I said roughly the same in the Wii U specs Thread.
We are made of the same stuff of dreams
If it was on display by invite only, why would no press have reports of it? Sounds fishy. You don't bring something to CES and say "ah, now you can't tell anyone about this, strictly for private invite only NDA things". Would make more sense for Microsoft to fly a guy to a development studio and show it off there, versus bring it to CES and have invite only room.
Developer on Neogaf talks Wii U's power compared to Durango/PS4
He was posting on his phone on Neogaf so that's why he was typing weird. This guy was confirmed by the Neogaf moderators to be a real game developer working on Wii U and Durango/PS4 hardware. Neogaf bans people who claim to be developers but can't prove it. So this guy is very legit.

"I'll put wiiu as a low specs Pc compared to the others (durango, PS4) with the actual data"

"Ps4 is not final yet and can change a lot but Xbox 3 it's more or less clear right now and the gap is big in almost every part "

When someone said nobody will notice a major difference in graphics between Wii U and other consoles, the person disagreed.
"mmm no, it will be noticeable (technically speaking)."

When asked if gap between Wii U and Durango will be a gap like "PS2 and Xbox 1" or "Dreamcast and Xbox 1"...he said...
"Difficult to measure ... But i think Is more Like the Second one (Sorry about the capital letters I'm On ny iPhone XD)"
He was just asked if Durango (Next Xbox) would be around 3-4 times more powerful than raw performance of Wii U.
He replied: "Well I only have 2 options to choose but I honestly thing it will be bigger."

Interesting that he says that the 720 is "ready" whereas PS4 is still a moving target, especially when Sony recently said that they mustn't launch second another time.

Nothing from what I can tell.. other than that Ubisoft game maybe.

The Ubisoft game "Watch Dogs" will be on current gen systems. And was shown during the conference on a high end pc.

Leaked Microsoft document details $299 Xbox 720 in 2013, Kinect glasses, OnLive acquisition
http://venturebeat.com/2012/06/16/le...e-acquisition/According to a 56-page document that an anonymous uploader posted to scribd.com and has since been removed at the request of law firm Covington & Burling Microsoft is planning a $299 Xbox 720 with Kinect 2 for a holiday 2013 release. Microsoft supposedly drafted the outline, which contains a road map for the companys Xbox division through 2015, in mid-2010. This documents authenticity has not been verified, but Convington & Burling LLP is Microsofts legal counsel.
An included spec sheet for the Xbox 720 details the units innards. The system will operate on six to eight ARM/Intel x86 cores running at 2Ghz with 4GB of memory. Software will ship on dual-layered Blu-rays for 50GB of optical storage. Microsofts new box will also feature 3 PowerPC cores for full backwards compatibility with Xbox 360 games. These obtuse specifications amount to a box that is six to eight times more powerful than the current hardware.
Forward-looking engineers at Redmond, according to the leaked documents, are arranging the console to be a modular design [in order] to facilitate SKU updates later in [the] lifecycle.
Always-on low-processing-power functionality will also factor into the use of the system. Similar to how a set-top box from Comcast or Time Warner is never truly powered down, the Xbox 720 will be able to act as your homes media hub by recording shows in the background. A separate dual-core cluster of chips will handle this background workload and will ensure that gaming performance is not affected.
We are made of the same stuff of dreams
So wait, we have 6 to 8 cores doing gaming, at least one dual core for media, and then a tri-core chip for 360 backwards compatibility, and we haven't even gotten to the GPU yet? $300 is bullshit.

Is MS going bringing the fight directly to Nintendo now?

EDIT: I think it's fake...
A "2.5'' 10k RPM SCSI hdd"? Really?

Well, they just announced the Surface line for Win8, wouldn't be surprised if this happened too at some point.
We had a Surface at Uni... didn't like it at all :P

We have one too, the first gen one. New one looks cooler. I think we'll be getting some of these tablets in too. It's why I love being a CS student, free coffee, couches, 24/7 access puts the other departments to shame. All for CS students only.
We didn't get free coffee... but it was cheap (10 cents a cup). The rest was equal. We also had the original one... and then our HCI deparment built one themselves, after it had the MS one, as it sucked ass... 1024x768 and a fucking cheap CPU/GPU? No way... the new one had 1080P and a standard issue x64 system... but it was for the HCI department... so all software made for it sucked (i.e. was just project or boredom crap and didn't really work/was just for show). It's somehow telling that most "Apple" owners here end up there :P At my department, NO Apples were present, except for (yeah yeah) the Prof^^
In any case... they HAVE to price their new tablets accordingly to make a difference. And MS has to make one. Once the dam of "preinstalled Windows" breaks, they are SOL. And with tablets and phones NOT using Windows, it's just a question of time when this trend continues to the desktop (or rather, when the desktop loses its overall dominance).
They cannot price their tablet Ipad-ish... or even close. Google (supposedly) will "give away" their 7'' tablet for 200USD (which I imagine will be 200€ respectively, if they sell it here). And that with a rather nice hardware underneath. So if this is at all possible, MS must not go much higher than 300USD.
I do like their x86 tablet, which is said to be priced "ultra book" level... which, obviously, would be ridiculous, too. If I can buy an Ultrabook for that money, I will get an Ultrabook and not a fucking tablet that does the same thing, but less so.

If MS had announced it before iPad was announced, then this would have blown everything out of water, now there is reference for comparison. This is the basic problem MS is facing in the tablet and phone space. Everything during the presentation was almost an identical copy of Appleseque presentation, going on and on about VaporMg (rhyming to vapor ware), the thickness and how even one micron would make it bulge, seriously even one micron i.e, 1/1000th of variation in thickness what kind of stupidity is that. RT is 9mm thick which is 9000micron thick and 9001micron would make it bulge, wow tolerance to 1/1000th. I am not sure if manufacturing can do that kind of tolerance without some money being thrown at it. Smart cover is nice and it has precedence from Logitech keyboard to can you believe it Casio fx-5200p, Casio PB-220 and PD-310.
The main compelling use is going to with next gen xbox as remote/second screen device which will be killer app for it and now that is what WiiU is. MS is very smart by making customers buy two separate devices, the cost is spread out unlike WiiU. It is definitely interesting times ahead, and I hope MS is made also ran in this space to let innovative companies to thrive instead of a reactionary company. The whole presentation felt like a cheap imitation of Apple presentation.
