Even with Steam games you can go to a friends and login to let him play your games.

Yes, but "everybody" that buys a car, no matter if new or used, needs maintenance done on it. And this often involves original parts. If I buy second hand games, I don't have to buy anything other than the console thats needed to play it. And that often involves manufacturer subsidies, especially early on in the cycle.

I think comparing any two markets is a terrible idea full of flaws. Viper you said dealers dealing 2nd hand don't give any money to manufacturers in any market, but this is a young industry and comparing to studio costs, a very risky one. A company shouldn't have to plan for "oh hang on, let's not forget 80% [or whatever] of our sales are going to be 2nd hand sales, and pirates.".
That doesn't offer an attractive incentive for the industry. Unless we want to say only games that are tripleA exclusives that cost $40million to make and everyone wants on day one is the only way to go.
And it's not like anyone goes to their friend "here, have my car for 2 weeks, I'm done with it" lol.Even if they did, they would have to insure it in their own name etc. So it's not a huge problem.
It is a problem to tackle in this industry, each industry has unique challenges.
I can understand retailers going "hang on, we are doing OUR job, you shouldn't get paid". I can understand it, but not respect it in ANY way. It's a total bitch move. Let's see what they sell 2nd hand when gaming goes mostly digital, can't wait for that day.

Market risks are market risks regardless of the youth of that industry. There is no industry that grants an entitlement after the right of first sale. There simply is no law allowing one entity to take profits from another entity without warrant.
And if they did pass such a law for video games, that would open up lawsuits like mad for all the other industries that don't have that entitlement. You'd also effectively outlaw swap meets, flea markets, yard sales, consumer conventions, wholesalers, etc...
Does it have to be that official? How about GAMESTATION going "we'll give you 2% of all 2nd hale sales" or whatever to the publisher. And if anyone bitches they can go "go make a deal with your middleman".
They should remember the saying, don't bite the hand that feeds you. I hate shitty middleman who finds a way to rip off both sides off, patiently waiting for their time to come.
MS could do this a number of ways. I've already mentioned a CD key style lock but beyond that if you lend the game to a friend they could play it for say 2 days before the system requires a $10-$20 transaction to continue.
Granted if they were to do this I'd hope that the games cost less to start with.
Microsoft reconfirms no Xbox 720 announcement at E3 2012
http://www.gamezone.com/news/microso...ent-at-e3-2012Microsoft has confirmed (again), that they have no plans of announcing an Xbox 720 at E3 2012 this year. It was originally rumored by MCV that both Microsoft and Sony had plans to unveil next-gen consoles at this year's E3. Since then, both companies have denied rumors repeatedly, but that hasn't stopped the masses from speculating.
So when Microsoft's Cedrick Delmas was asked by Le Point if the company had any plans for a new console at E3, Delmas reconfirmed what we already know, "There will be nothing new in 2012."
In a rough translation of the interview, Delmas explained, "We're in an industry that talks a lot, that likes telling stories."
"I am not convinced that things will happen this year. The Xbox 360's cycle is not over at all. The proof is that we haven't price cut this year," he added. "Afterward, what will happen at E3, it's still too early to say. What's certain is that there will be nothing new in 2012."
Delmas made it clear that Microsoft has no plans to rush a system announcement to compete with Nintendo's Wii U which is set to release later this year.
"We're not here to counter Nintendo and they're not here to fight the other manufacturers. Nintendo has put itself in a different cycle, it's going forward to its own rhythm, with success as we have seen with the Wii, and now it's their turn to present their innovation."
As for Sony's take on a next-gen console, they confirmed to the same website that they would likely be the last to announce next-gen plans.
It strange, I thought it was the correct timing to annouce a late 2013 release...
HD gaming isn't done yet or rather is good enough for most people...I don't think anything needs to be done with announcements unless you want to steal some of Nintendo's thunder, which is quite pointless given Wii-U is carrying on the Wii name brand and will likely be very successful on brand alone for the first 10 million.
“Had the religion of Christianity been preserved according to the ordinances of the Founder, the state and commonwealth of Christendom would have been far more united and happy than they are. Nor can there be a greater proof of its decadence than the fact that the nearer people are to the Church, the head of their religion, the less religious are they.”
"By their Fruits, you will recognize them..."
People are still telling jokes about the name of the Wii. I really hope it changes.
Really? Don't think I've heard a joke about the Wii itself in years. Naturally I heard a few when the Wii U was announced but nothing like the Wii dealt with. But I don't think they are looking at changing the name simply to appease the immature but as a means to establish a separate brand. Like the did with Gameboy to DS. And to keep the average person from simply suspecting the Wii U is a new model of Wii like many people still do with the 3DS. Or to simply go back to their past naming conventions of a different console title per console (SNES not withstanding).
Slightly offtopic. but would you buy a Windows Phone 7 or 8 that let you "remote play" ala PSP/Vita or Wii U with the NextXBox?
I'll either stick to iOs or Android, but I won't buy a windows phone. I already have windows on my Pc and that's enough for me![]()
Another rumor : Xbox 720 rumored to have 'iPad-style' tablet controller
http://www.gamezone.com/news/xbox-72...let-controller
honestly I don't understand this tablet fashion. This will make a too pricy XBOX720 just to have this tablet. Just give us regular controlers and that is more than enough.
It's the "in" thing, right now... not sure what to think, at the moment, as I haven't experienced it myself.
