Paul Gale Network is proud to reveal one of PlayStation 3′s surprise games, but before I do, there are a couple of things that I won’t be putting in this article: the name of the game, publisher, developer, pictures, video, percent complete, and release date. That being said, the surprise game that I have for you is:
Sony’s equivalent of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
This is real and this is awesome. The game plays on a 2D plane much like Smash Bros. does, with plenty of Sony branded characters making up the combatants. Just who are some of these playables? This isn’t a full revealing, so I’ll tell you the following: Kratos, Sly Cooper, Nathan Drake (Uncharted), Fat Princess, Parappa, Sweet Tooth, and Rico (Killzone).
The stages are vibrant and varied, just like in Smash Bros., and the style of play is geared towards people that like that series. Expect pretty colorful backgrounds (when appropriate), such as in Misty Island from Jak and Daxter and LittleBigPlanet. In the latter of the two, much like the game it stems from, there are all sorts of cool objects spawning all throughout your match, adding a lot of fan service to the level.

^As opposed to what? The C4, land mines, remote controllable rocket launcher, assault gun smash, mortar and hand grenades in SSBB?

Its amazing the difference in demographics when discussig Nintendo and Sony. On Wii a game like this sells like hotcakes. On PS3 who knows. I cant say im too excited myself but im surprised it took them this long to make a game like this. I wonder if it will sell well

I never was a huge fan of Smash Bros but I am curious how they will pull this out, what with all the variation in character style. Assuming this is real of course.

Pretty much my thoughts, I only played Super Smash Brothers once (One of the Wii versions...if there is even more then one on it) and I hated it, not to say that it's a bad game because they are obviously doing something right if so many people love it, but it's not for me.
But if they are going for a similar theme but a different style for the gameplay maybe that would work for me.

Well, I don't like fighting games anyway, never mind the theme, so every "MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT SHOOP DA WOOP" about a game like that, is meh for me.

i'm not so sure it's a widespread phenomena. i believe it goes beyond the general. over at N4G for instance, this news was greeted by whoops of joy from 90% of all PS branded fans. so perhaps certain sites gather certain types of people.Its amazing the difference in demographics when discussig Nintendo and Sony. If this is real, it isn't wouldn't just be targeting fans of Smash Brothers, but Playstation fans in general. I would assume it be on PSBlog or something like that tho, so I'm not convinced this is legit yet. But I would buy such a game mostly because I'm a Playstation fan, and partly because Smash Brothers is righteously awesome with 4 players, but I've played waaaay too much of it.

Yesterday, Paul Gale Network shared its exclusive scoop on Sony’s high profile Super Smash Bros. Brawl-like fighter, which was simply referred to as “Sony Smash Bros.” (again, not the title). This story got a lot of people excited, for like me personally, many gamers out there have been wishing to see Sony’s own heroes and villains duke it out in a fighting game for years.
It’s awesome to see titles like Street Fighter X Tekken, Marvel vs. Capcom, etc. because they bring us some of the most exciting matchups and really show that the developers listen to what we want. I personally am also a fan of guest starring roles in games, like Link in SoulCalibur II, Kratos in Mortal Kombat, and so on.
Yet with all of these great crossovers and cameos, you’d think that the obvious should have happened by now and that’s PlayStation 3 having its own batch of representatives take on one another…well it’s finally happening.
Being a martial artist and a video gamer has made me a tremendous fan of fighting games and I hope you’ll all be patient and understand that I have to wait until November 3rd until putting up more information. I will tell you now however, that the update will specifically be about gameplay and one that’s definitely worth checking out.
Thank you once again for your understanding. I could have spoiled the story by releasing this news a very long time ago, but had to wait until October 31st and I’m simply doing what I have to, which this time is waiting until November 3rd for the gameplay details. The final update before the official screenshots and videos will be the title of the game on a future date. I will tell you when that will be (when I’m able to) but for now am being respectful of the team’s wishes.
In the meantime, something that you’ll be seeing in full tomorrow is the first ever, Grand Theft Auto V trailer. This is really a blockbuster week for gamers!
