Well done. And in Spain no less.

It is indeed the font and texture theme of the US $5 bill.

Is Las Venturas supposed represent Las Vegas (I never played San Andreas or IV)? Because Las Vegas seems like a very likely setting based on the logo theme.

Hope it's not Los Santos (LA) only, can't fucking stand LA. It also needs to bring back a lot of features from San Andreas. Character customization, car tuing, the possibility to buy houses etc. The only steps forward in GTAIV were the graphics and physics.

    Anyway, I don't like this:
    Kotaku
The next Grand Theft Auto game may be heading back to Los Angeles—or its GTA equivalent Los Santos—if rumored casting details dug up by Google search crackerjack "superannuation" for a project codenamed "Rush" are Rockstar-related.

Casting calls for a project by the name of Rush tied to Take-Two Interactive, which owns Rockstar Games, point to a video game set in the Los Angeles area, one that's certainly not 2011's L.A. Noire or the announced but never seen Agent. This appears to be a modern day fiction, with a cast that sounds very much like a broad, memorable group of miscreants, lowlifes and Hollywood stereotypes.

Mobsters, FBI agents, actors, hillbillies and hippies feature prominently in the cast listing that doesn't mention GTA by name, but sure reads a lot like the multicultural motley crews that feature in Rockstar's video games.

If accurate and related to Grand Theft Auto V, it would match a rumor put forth by VG247 last year, which tipped a return to the Los Angeles and Hollywood caricatures Los Santos and Vinewood. That locale was last featured in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which also included Las Vegas and San Francisco-like cities, a game that went on to sell more than 21.5 million copies.

The following casting call comes from talent network The Agency.

    Mitch Hayes:
38 - Annoying, wise cracking, highly successful FBI agent. In great shape. Does triathlons, drinks low cal beer, but still has a sense of humor.
    Miguel Gonzalez:
25 - Young Mexican American FBI agent, caught between a few mob bosses. Very clean cut

    Clyde:
23 - Moronic, almost inbred and creepy white trash hillbilly. Very naïve but in a creepy "it's only incest sort of way"

    Brother Adam:
Welsh monk / cult leader / yoga teacher - 50, very lithe, very into exploring your personal tension through gripping massage. Needs Welsh accent.

    Mrs Avery:
Neurotic soccer mom, home maker, 48, anxious and addled on pain killers. Very angry at neighbor MRS Bell.

    Mrs Bell:
Swinger, and mellow Californian divorcee. 45. Ugly but comfortable with self.

    Eddie:
47 - Weed evangelist, guy who started smoking at 30, and is now a leading proponent of marijuana's fantastic properties. White, awkward.

    Ira Bernstein:
56 - publicist for an actress known as America's newest sweetheart who just so happens to love animals, orphans, drugs and sex. He's always trying to hide her latest indiscretion.

    Kevin De Silva:
18 - Albert's fat, FPS playing gamer son. Smokes a lot of weed, has anxiety issues and a card for a bad back, very soft, very opinionated. Into making racist comments while playing online.

    Harut Vartanyan:
42-52 years old - Armenian car dealer, moneylender, would be Fagin and would be bully. Heavily connected to the underworld, but irritates people so much no one likes him.

    Nervous Jerry:
48 - paranoiac living in the sticks, near Simon, completely paranoid, and terrified of Simon.

    Calvin North:
55 - clapped out FBI agent who now mostly works offering advice on TV shows - whose only claim to fame turns out to be entirely false - but a decent guy in other ways. Badly dressed. Divorced. Putting on weight.

    Jerry Cole:
53 - disabled IT expert and criminal information vendor.

    Rich Roberts:
English hardman actor, 35, who acts tough but who wants to do serious work - the only problem is he can't quite read the words.

    Alex:
white 52 yr old loosie goosie hippy rich guy who has lost his money and is getting desperate but trying not to.

    Scarlet:
45-52 years old - unshaven female spiritualist and hippy with a love of exploring the wilderness. Very into journeys.

    Chad:
29 - pretty boy misogynist Beverly Hills party boy. Made money, but not as cool as he thinks he is.

    Tae Wong:
39 - somewhat incompetent Chinese mobster, loves doing ecstasy, going to raves.

    Taes Translator:
45 - VERY STRAIGHT LACED Chinese translator, terrified of his boss's dad. Male, awkward. Needs to speak Chinese.

Rockstar Games was recently credited with registering some similarly Grand Theft Auto-sounding domain names, including CashForDeadDreams.com and StopPayingYourMortgage.net.

Rockstar North, the studio behind core Grand Theft Auto games, is currently at work in some capacity on Agent, "a paranoid journey into the world of counter-intelligence, espionage and political assassinations during the height of the Cold War at the end of the 1970's." It has not officially announced GTA V.

  3. Yeah, Las Venturas = Las Vegas.

I don't mind, LA. I love it's famous street, can't remember whatchamacall it but with all the shops and stuff. Loved driving through there in SA.

And I wonder why this is called GTA5....They usually only use numbers when there is a generation leap...I guess because it's on WiiU as well?

It was awesome in San Andreas, because you could leave the city. I dislike the idea behind LA, because it's featured in so many games and movies. It feels like I know it better than my own hometown, same with NYC btw.

That casting call actually fits Las Vegas every bit as well as Las Angeles. So don't rule out Las Venturas.

I don't think the numbered naming convention necessary correlates with new generation of consoles on purpose. GTA II was on the same console as GTA was, for example. In fact, V may just be a place holder until they announce the full subtitle (if perhaps the sub title would give away the location as Vice City and San Andreas did).
The current US government is the type of government the founding fathers fought against and warned us about.

  6. lol. I know GTA3 map better than my home town, other GTAs, not yet xD

But far as GTA we only saw LA once, so I don't mind it again as it'll be done vastly differently as NYC was from 3 to 4. I get what you are saying though, yeah.

I thought about that as well, but all GTAs were announced with their actual names. Though I guess back then we didn't know what SA or VC were, so yeah, it is a possibility it's a place-holder.

Naming convention started with GTA3 I believe. Though the theory is not official by any means, so yeah, they probably just wanted to call it 5.
I guess if it's 5 we can expect Niko lot to be dropped (though making cameo appearances, directly or indirectly, no doubt).

Many fansites speculating an April release (following in GTA4's footsteps). And it fits into Rockstar's announcement -> Release timeline.

Here's the thing. I play GTA to creatively blow shit up, and that was pretty nonexistent in GTA4. Non-engaging story, lack of cheats, retarded physics, retarded character control, and others. GTA was never intended to be ultra-realistic, and it's almost like they actually tried to make GTA4 as realistic as possible. You can't set the bar so high with San Andreas by adding in the RPG upgrading elements, all the ridiculous cheats, an agile character, then getting rid of everything you've set up.

  8. Can we take all that to GTA4 thread please
I really don't want a copy of GTA4 thread where every 2 posts someone drops in to complain about GTA in general (nothing to do with GTA5). As it makes it a very unlikable place to visit.

    Okay, I'll go on topic.

I want fully destructible environments. There, I said it.

  10. I want what they planned and failed with GTA4, where if you break a lamb post, you see in real time city staff coming and repairing it.
I also want houses to be destructible / driven through-able. Would make for epic chases. Imagine taking a big chunk of a house's wall and the people inside are like "WOAH WOAH!" and you speed through their walls and dining tables and then come out the other end and the whole building collapses just as the people chasing you go under it, leaving their car totalled

FULLY destructible though? Not for me. I don't wanna end up playing in a wasteland lol.

  12. Many are saying logo might be Washington DC related. Money, DC, makes sense. A lot of satire material in that place right now as well, Rockstar will see it as a gold mine.

Anyway, not much point speculating, as the teaser surely will at least give us the location and it's only a week away. But hard to help yourself lol

I agree the money element could suggest D.C. but if the character cast list is valid, it doesn't fit as well as LA or Vegas.

  14. Dan House being a smart ass just days before the official announcement

EW: Are you looking to the next stage of the GTA franchise?
DH: There is gonna be one? I don’t know. [Smiles] I know nothing about anything after Max Payne 3.
We all know what that smile was about now, and if he is continuing with his subtle hints, the bold part might suggest that it is releasing before MP3.

Judging from this, it sounds like this may be our next-gen San Andreas game.

I didn't read that whole casting list, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Chicago. Or "Carcer City" as it's known in the Rockstarniverse.

Things I want in the game:
-Get rid of those shitty driving physics from 4. If I can't blast through a 90 degree turn going 70 miles an hour by just leaning on the hand brake until I'm pointing in the right direction, without fishtailing all over the world, then I'm gonna be pissed.
-More weapons, ammo types, weapon mods
-Bring back character customization. The clothing variety in 4 sucked ass.
-Bring back things like the "good citizen" bonus for helping cops, being able to hold-up stores (both featured in Vice City, never seen again)

    More to come.

I agree with everything except the driving physics. I actually prefer them over SA. Dunno... I prefer my driving to be a little more challenging I guess.
    Kept you waiting

  18. I enjoyed both physics and would have liked SA to be a bit harder and 4 to be a bit easier, so yeah, middle-ground between the two would be epic for me.

Other physics should NOT be touched. GTA4 to this day has outstanding physics on weapons and cars (especially vehicle damage system, WOW).
I hope they keep Euphoria as well, although the merging with R.A.G.E engine should be further improved from RDR for smoother player movement.

And maybe add context sensitive animation, like in Unch3 so when you walking in tight halls he puts his arms up on the walls and when passing a door ducks his head etc.

Man 2nd Nov can't come soon enough. I just want to see 1 second of gameplay footage and I'll be satisfied.
