I would love for this to be Vice City ( If not then some place new ). Thats still my favourite GTA and had the best atmosphere and cast ( Dennis Hopper, Ray Liotta, James Woods, JJ etc. )

I also hope they improve player movement. I hated those tank like controls which really show themselves to be poor in combat when you are being flanked. The cover shooting sytem is good but can always be improved. I didnt have a problem with the car physics but i hated that shtty driving AI that intentionally turns into your lane to take you out when cruising at high speeds. Make that shit dynamic instead of intentionally scripted. I would also like for them to have some massive indoor levels which would add a bit more variation to the mission design. They could hide the load times for bigger indoor areas with cutscenes like they do when you start a mission. Destruction in the city and trees that dont decimate your car without so much as losing a leaf would be nice. Also im gonna harp on about this and i know its irritating but this game better be on more than one DVD. Theres no excuses anymore to gimp Rockstars imagination because of DVD. Im sure they can come up with some kind of installation like DICE did for BF3. Also finally please let the guys that created the Ballad of Gay Tony missions design the missions in this game. Please not the guys who designed Undead Nightmare!

Anyways im looking forward to what they come up with. The second game in a console generation always fixes and refines things for the better based on what we've seen from other franchises. I hope that happens in GTAV.

The Jack Thompson coincidence can't be so, haha.

I would like them to be more original than just remaking Vice City's environment. Sure, the generational leap still makes it completely different, but I'd rather see them using a new location. I guess Europe and Asia are out of the question.

R* can do whatever they want, it's pretty much a hit & miss with me on what series in the franchise I enjoyed. I do liked the more focused story aspects of Vice City, but didn't care for San Adreas too much. Rags to Riches story is also getting old, so a welcome change in that area.

Besides that, I'm all for something fresh and new, R* will bring the humor and goods, I only hope they take advantage of Blu-ray this time and give Sony fans a treat, many of us have been here since the big boom of GTA3 and loyally bought every game ever since.

Nothing will ever replace this for me:

Also, to GTA IV being boring... *sigh*. I noticed that many people who are used to the GO GO GO GO GO online ADD madness of games like COD and GoW find single player games with strong and requisite plots to be boring. I find it hilarious when I read that.

As for San Andreas... one of the biggest wastes of digital space I have ever seen. People loved how big the game world was, but it was lifeless and empty. Also, having to eat and workout was droll (as was hanging out with friends in IV).
Words like 'God' and 'Allah' must go the way of 'Apollo' and 'Baal' or they will unmake our world.

I know people who ripped on GTAIV quite a bit. It wasn't a horrible game by any means; I found it to be entertaining and enjoyable. It wasn't without its flaws. Driving sucked, every mission felt like a tutorial, the ending(s) were bullshit, and the friendship mechanic was lame (but easily avoided). The game also took itself a little too seriously for my taste, but meh.

Like Otacon, I'm hoping for a Chicago setting since it would be nice to have a new setting to muck around in. Also, since I live fairly close to Chicago it would be cool to see it in virtual, parody form. There might also be a few jokes made about Wisconsin, which I would approve of.

Oh, and if they bring back the electric gun from GTAII, I'm sold.

  6. Just to add more fuel to the fire that this is *THE* GTA game, it's been getting it's 'final touches' since June.

That's 6+ months of 'final touches'. With a talented developer like Rockstar, needing 6+ months to polish it up suggests we will have hell a lot more to do than we did with Niko.

I stole that info from this fun little article.

Can MODS (@Viper ) please change the '5' to 'V' in the title please...It just looks wrong.

SA is still my favorite. They did a great job of not only recreating California's look and feel, but also they nailed the 90's feel perfectly. Being that it was the first game ever to introduce that sort of scale, it also added a lot to it to me. It had everything that made the other games great but with much better music.

  9. I think they nail the feeling in every GTA they do, hence the series' success. I was a huge rap follower in SA days though, so yeah, that game has a special place in my heart as far as soundtrack goes.

Rap station (Game Radio) in GTA3 wasn't half bad either.

VC is my least fav far as soundtrack (not too into classic rock) and I am re-playing all GTAs now and recalled why it's my least fav in gameplay as well; cars are like feathers. You touch a curb and you flip and spin 500million times. Can get annoying fast.
I had completely forgotten it had a chainsaw though and it's a pretty damn awesome weapon.

Roughly 2 more days until GTA5 trailer....Oh man oh man oh man! I am 99.9% sure it's not going to disappoint so I am just super excited to see what the premise of the game is.

A lot of video based sites allow you do 'dim the light' like that. Hulu does, I think.

  14. Yeah, I really like that feature. YouTube had it for a while but for some reason removed it. Now you have to be distracted by the super white background if not watching in full screen.

They added grey bits around the video which helps in small res monitors but bigger res, not so much.

Kinda late but it would be cool if they added a mission to GTA IV that had you incite a riot on Wall Street.

  16. ViceCity had a mission like that (job was to incite riot at worker's union protest though, not wall st).

GTA V won't be short of financial satire and missions it looks like.

    That's a nice idea actually. I can't believe it isn't widely used.

Some monitors and HDTV sets have light sensors and can adjust brightness dynamically, but it's not the same thing.

Yeah, would love that on YouTube. At 24" and 1920x1200, you have a lot of white, empty space around the video window. Still kinda funny.

I hope they reconsider their stance on cameos. They said no one from III-SA would be seen in IV because they'd all be dead or some such shit. Depending on the setting, it would be cool to see CJ, Tommy Vercetti, Claude, Donald Love, Ken Rosenberg, Joey Leone, or Tony Cipriani again.

Pretty much same size and resolution here. I usually expand to full screen even on the 480p videos.
