    Gravity Rush

This Vita Game Will Have You Walking On the Walls.

Team Siren, a division of Sony Japan's internal studio, is working on a Vita game called Gravity. You may not have heard about it earlier in the week amidst all the other big Sony news, and that's a damn shame.

Why? Because it looks fantastic, that's why. With a cel-shaded visual style and motion controls, you play a girl in a world that is literally coming apart at the seams. At the dimensional level. So you can end up walking on walls, and use gravity itself as both a means to get around a level and to kill the bad guys.

    Gravity's release date is TBA.
    Looks neat!

Nor can there be a greater proof of its decadence than the fact that the nearer people are to the Church, the head of their religion, the less religious are they.”

Yeah im really really falling in love with this portable. It's like the swiss army knife of portables. I need to find a better/longer gameplay vid of this game though as that video was a bit short. Lots of questions still but its from Sony's team Siren in Japan so it should be pretty good.

Loving the art style & impressed with the devs abilities to still come up with original game mechanics.
This looks like a must buy.

    9 min dev walkthrough

  14. So what is the final name for this game? Project Gravity -> Gravity Daze -> Gravity Rush -> Gravity Gravity? -> Ham Sandwich: Vengeance??

Really though, this game is the exact reason why I'm excited as all for the Vita. This game clearly needs 2 analog sticks and ISN'T a shooter. Features nice graphics, interesting art-style, and a unique gameplay mechanic. Okay, i'm going to stop ranting. Between this and Malicious though the Vita is a haven for badass art-heavy action games!
There is nothing absolute in this world. You may sometimes be at a loss knowing that this world is unreasonable.
To break the impasse, you must hold an unshakable belief and insight as well as a certain amount of vitality.

Looks really great makes me want to get a Vita. Though this game is just screaming for a 3D implementation, would be wild with all the perspective changes.

IGN.Gravity Rush: Not Your Average RPG
Running on walls sure beats level-grinding.
    by Ryan Clements

When Gravity Rush first took the spotlight, all eyes fell on an action-filled platformer in which a girl -- guided by a mysterious cat -- leapt through the air and broke gravity's clutch on the world. But besides a short demo featuring a courtyard battle, little news emerged on this girl's future.

As it turns out, Gravity Rush had several surprises tucked into its Vita-powered sleeve. While the gravity-defying platforming still dominates the experience, this beautiful experience packs tons of RPG goodies. With abilities to level up, side-quests to complete, villains to best, and worlds to explore, Gravity Rush has much more to offer than it first let on.

But introductions are in order. The mysterious girl you control goes by the name Kat. Fitting, when you consider her feline companion. At some point during Kat's arrival in this strange world she befriends a man named Syd who works for the local law enforcement. With a fresh friendship in place Syd tasks Kat with helping out around town, like assisting with the capture of a dangerous man named Alias that can mimic others.

The world of Gravity Rush, accessible through a detailed world map, comes divided into several sections or towns. NPCs occupy these towns and issue side-quests and story missions with ease. Kat can always retire to her small hideaway in the city's sewer system, however, if you feel the need to save your progress.

One mission Syd offers Kat involves swapping out a town relic with a fake, in order to "keep it safe." Ulterior motives aside, this launches Kat into a stealth mission which requires her to stay out of the police's sight. An easy task, if you can manipulate the laws of gravity to get around.

With a quick tap of the trigger, Kat drifts into the air and can then "fall" in any direction, regardless of orientation. Once she lands, this surface becomes her new floor. With this trick, Kat can run along hard-to-reach walls and towers without a single sweat broken.

These gravity-bending techniques play an important role in battle as well. Kat can slide along the ground at any time as if sliding down a slope, making a quick escape much easier. Alternatively, Kat has the ability to deploy a stasis field around her and pick up nearby objects to use as weapons. Once under the influence of her powers, these objects now double as deadly projectiles and even break the armor off of more difficult enemies.

Abilities like the stasis field, along with Kat's basic combat maneuvers, can all benefit from level-ups with the help of precious gems scattered around the world. With enough gems Kat can improve these powers and reduce charge times, enhance power, and grow into an even more effective fighter all around. All of these level-ups can be manipulated from Gravity Rush's touch menu, along with the aforementioned map and various mission objectives.

With so many opportunities for exploration and leveling, Gravity Rush mirrors many RPG conventions designed to reward you for your efforts. Although the breath-taking gravity manipulation already sold me on this Vita exclusive, the RPG elements make it all the sweeter. And, of course, you just can't go wrong with magic cats.

This article is based on a 20 minute demonstration of an incomplete version of Gravity Rush, which included hands-on time. The session was supervised by a Sony representative.

    New Powers in Gravity Rush

Kat keeps adding new gravity-defying skills as she explores this upside-down world, and today we introduced two useful new powers for the first time. One is called “Gravity Slide.” If you hold left and right corners of the PS Vita’s 5” OLED screen at the same time, Kat will start sliding as if she’s on a skateboard. Then you can tilt PS Vita to turn left or right. If you run into an enemy while gravity sliding, you will automatically attack the enemy with greater force.

The other skill is called “Stasis Field,” and it allows Kat to levitate objects and hurl them in any direction. You can use this skill to defeat flying enemies or to move objects and people during missions. As you enhance it, you will be able to grab more and more objects at the same time.

These two skills will come in handy during side missions where you need to defeat as many enemies as possible within the time limit, or when you need to pass through every checkpoint to complete a race. Use every gravity skill and trick at your disposal to enjoy this game to the fullest!
