Pretty darn innovative I'd say...as usual, Nintendo is always the most brilliant when it comes to executing new ideas. Avatars was one of the best thing Nintendo came up with, MS downright copied while Sony went into a slightly different direction.

When are the other two just gonna learn to follow Nintendo and then try to build from that (well Sony does this), just face it, they are the inventors behind the industry as far a game concepts anyway, hardware/software is another story cuz they suck with online services and Sony owns with cool tech each gen.

It's worked out for Sony so far being the modifiers.. Integrated avatars should be in every console, MS ripped the hell outta it, but man, they are cool to play with. Miis are ridiculously awesome with a ton of potential for game customization and personalizing your experiences.

I'm getting Cafe for those two reasons alone, regardless if 3rd parties are on board this time or not, Nintendo has it in them to make classics without anyone's help.

“Had the religion of Christianity been preserved according to the ordinances of the Founder, the state and commonwealth of Christendom would have been far more united and happy than they are. Nor can there be a greater proof of its decadence than the fact that the nearer people are to the Church, the head of their religion, the less religious are they.”

3? lol....I usually don't have that many people at my house so just one extra is fine by me. And Sony's Dual Shock is like $50 if you don't get a deal on Amazon or something, so I'd imagine a controller with a touch screen not being much more than that, the tech is getting cheaper, Nintendo wouldn't be doing it if it was expensive, they nickel and dime you with add-ons, extras and stuff, never the console itself.

Well, my point was that people (incl. me I should say) already complain about too expensive peripherals... and this will most likely skyrocket the price to twice of what we pay, already. And seeing that 50€ for a DS3 is already quite ridiculous, imho, I cannot see them selling many of these. I mean, supposedly it includes a full handheld, too... so it won't be much cheaper than say a current DS (bigger screens, but just one of them).

Unless they intend to sell "asymmetric" controllers (i.e. only player one gets the touchscreen, the rest doesn't). Which would severely limit it's uses in multiplayer games.

The idea itself is quite cool (continue playing the game, but on the go). I'd have loved to see that kind of interaction between PSP and PS3, but it never came to fruition... but how would it, anyways? PSP is less capable than PS2 in terms of hardware. So making a game playable on both handheld and home console would mean limiting yourself extremely, to accommodate the handheld hardware... And it's not even graphics, I am talking about here. Think about current games in terms of AI and gameworld. This stuff simply won't work on a small handheld.

I'm not 100% sure that Nikkie article isn't just talking about the rumors rather than actually confirming things. Too many times have I seen a single word in a Japanese translation get fudged and change the entire nature of the report.

So I'm still waiting to see what happens.

Yeah... my brain already tells me the previous leak image with the specs is real... so I don't think about it being a fake, maybe.

Well, it's gonna be pretty hard to lose this for Nintendo. Nothing really exciting out of Sony.

The new controller will look like the PS Vita. BC it is the only shape that makes sense.

yeah, I don't think the controller is gonna be all that exciting to watch on a conference...

Nintendo will steal the show with franchises in Hi-Def...

Wii also has some great RPG's coming...and Skyward Sword.

It's definitely now Nintendo's to lose as MS certainly had a rather poor showing and Sony's didn't cause the excitement I expected it was going to (though the Vita price tag sure did).

    Fanboy pipe dream:
    Project Cafe re-named as N6.
Hardware on par with i7-2600 CPU and HD 6970 GPU.
All major multiplatform titles coming to N6.
1 major exclusive from each major 3rd party for N6.
    Price at $300 or less.
Classic, Wii, hands free, tablet based controls options.
Most expansive and thorough online services all for free.

    Plausible:
Project Cafe renamed as just Nintendo.
Hardware almost a full generation ahead of PS3/X360.
    More multiplatform support than Wii.
A few exclusives from 3rd parties.
    Priced at $300 or less.
Wii and tablet based control options.
    Upgraded Wii online service.

    Worst case scenario:
Project Cafe is renamed as Beam or Stream.
Hardware on par or even less than PS3/X360.
3rd party support just like Wii.
    No major 3rd party exclusives.
    $400
    Tablet based control option.
    Same online service as Wii.

I think the middle is a safe bet...

although not sure how fast 3rd parties are gonna get on with exclusives big games, but they should be able to start some new IP's.

Oh, and Nintendo being the official name again would be awesome. Still, won't be playing next gen Nintendo for a while, I'm mostly looking forward to them announcing The Last Story and Xenoblade for the U.S this year, and seeing more of Skyward Sword.

Those "dreams" aren't feasible. I agree, the hardware would be nice, but the pricing is off. Especially the first one HAS to retail for something along 599€. If one buys a PC that powerful, it's easily that and probably more. And that's not even talking of the software.

Epic Games looks set to support Nintendo's next-generation console, if a Tweet from VP Mark Rein is anything to go by.

Rein Tweeted: "We have another pretty cool announcement coming today at around 10AM PST" - just as Nintendo's E3 press conference starts heading towards a conclusion.

Speaking at GDC this year, Rein famously said, "the second Nintendo releases a piece of hardware that can run our engine well, we'll be on it like water on fish."

I'm torn...the concept of the controller is pretty cool, but there was absolutely NO discussion of the console itself! Really? No mention of an online infrastructure besides the EA CEOs quick comment about there being one.

I find myself frustrated more than anything.

And Wii U is just upsetting.

The controller looks very uncomfortable for standard games and yeah im also disappointed about there not being any new IP's or any talk about the online infrastructure. This conference just left me with more questions than i had before the conference. I dont know whether it was good or bad to be honest

I'm excited for this new console, but couldn't they have come up with a better name? ANY of the project names would have been better than "Wii U". Its like they aren't trying. The controller I'm curious about. Its a great idea but it looks too bulky. I'd have to actually hold it in my hands to see if its comfortable or not, but I'm still not too keen on holding something like that for extended periods of time.
