Max Payne 3

Wow was the last third of the game that bad for you? Its been a long long time since ive played MP 1+2 but i seem to recall those games having just as many waves from room to room. Maybe i need to play those games again.

Yeah but they had the presentation in tact. Max Payne 3 threw all that out the window at the end. From the moment you enter the airport *plane crash sound*. Game goes super dull. I actually paused and thought to myself "am i still playing MP3?".


The bits before it started to edge towards that feeling too but that's the definite place I noticed the downturn. I am not talking just gameplay, as at essence, MP franchise is "just" waves and waves but they wrap it up in itneresting scnerios/ stories / cutscenes. MP3 forgot to do that later on.

You don't have to bother with MP1+2, just compare the first half of MP3 with the second half (well, a bit later than half).

The last chapter was definitely taken right out of Die Hard 2 and for a minute i even felt like John Mclean with the bald head but still when i was running through the terminals and the trams with that song tears playing in the backround i thought it was awesome.

I do agree that the first two parts were better than the third and maybe this was because the plot didnt flow as well or was maybe too convenient at times. Lake is defenitely a better writer than Houser in my opinion. Also the bpss fights were just crap and never should have been designed the way they were.

I bought this, Dark Souls AND Dragon's Dogma :/...What was I thinking. But luckily this one is out the way. And there is a bit of a delay with DS. Two large RPGs to play though.

Yeah we are in agreement here. Music was the only constantly awesome part of it.

The plot went from personal exploration of Max as a character (great) to some cheap organ stealing plotline or whatever the hell that was. They should have consulted more with Remedy about creating a feel for the second latter of the story. Like the V Drug scene from MP1 was awesome. Here I was like "lul wut". It was like two different games, latter being shit.

And yeah bosses were terribly designed. I don't know what they were thinking with some of the design choices.

Another thing: Like now, I want to get the collection trophy but the way cutscenes are done is terrible. You press X to "skip" but it says "still loading", and guess what 98% of the cutscenes NEVER stop loading!!! So you are tapping X for 2 minutes like crazy, to no avail. It's so poorly done by normal standards and downright abysmal by Rockstar standards.

I can't believe in an open world game using the same engine we can skip around cutsccnes, load a huge world , get in another cutscnee, skip, etc, and here 98% of cutscenes are technically unskipable and worse the system is made so you don't know if they are or not and are tapping X for ages just to constantly be annoyed by the "still loading" message.

Poor poor stuff by Rockstar.



ANYWAY, that's my last 2cents for the game. Again, first 70% or so amazing, technically it could play a bit smoother (Euphoria not perfected yet it seems) and annoyance like above come up. I also had sound issues in some cutscenes. But, other than that, great game

Me neither but if I am re-playing just to collect stuff (and if you read my post that's what I said), I want to get it done ASAP. So you would want to sit through hours of cutscenes again? ...Well you don't have a choice anyway

By the way crazybone change your pre order while you can for Dragons Dogma. IGN says the 360 version is rubbish. Someone tell Deadcell also. Strange i know because its usually PS3 that has the frame rate problems but not so with this one

Nope, not even on second playthroughs do I skip cutscenes. The reason I usually do preceding playthroughs is simply because I forgot the storyline anyway haha. So skipping cutscenes wouldn't be too beneficial for me.

Anyone found to have used hacked saves, modded games, or other exploits to gain an unfair advantage in Max Payne 3 Multiplayer, or to circumvent the leaderboards will be quarantined from all other players into a "Cheaters Pool", where they'll only be able to compete in multiplayer matches with other confirmed miscreants. In the event we decide to absolve any of these cheaters for their past transgressions they may re-enter play with the general public, however a second offense will result in their indefinite banishment.
