7 is faster than 6 but I can't tell about memory because I'm always running lots of plug ins and leave things running for hours.

I'm not really noticing memory improvements, but then again I probably have at least half of my RAM unused even when multitasking daily stuff, so I will rarely benefit from that as I never had any trouble with RAM to begin with. However, it does feel more stable and snappier. It makes me eager to get the next few numbered updates.

I think they probably improved HTML5 performance. There's a TRON inspired game used as a test that ran slow on FF4 but it did run properly yesterday. But I'm not completely sure whether I originally tested it on a slower computer at work or at home. Hmmm.

It has plenty of additions, but they're mostly meant to work under the hood.

Also, they just released a minor patch that fixes rare issues with disappearing add-ons.

FF8 comes out today. Not up yet everywhere, but it does prompt me to upgrade.

It's been available in final form for a couple of days for download but since there isn't anything big feature wise I'm looking forward to, I'm just waiting for it to be pushed for update.

The next 2 updates are supposed to be very nice though.

Once again, it does feel slightly snappier. Other than that, nothing really new.

    Anyway, changelog:

    Code:
    - Add-ons installed by third-party programs are now disabled by default
    - Added a one-time add-on selection dialog to manage previously installed add-ons
    - Added Twitter to the search bar
    - Added a preference to load tabs on demand, improving start-up time when windows are restored
    - Improved performance and memory handling when using <audio> and <video> elements
    - Added Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) support for cross-domain textures in WebGL
    - Added support for HTML5 context menus
    - Added support for insertAdjacentHTML
    - Improved CSS hyphen support for many languages
    - Improved WebSocket support
    - Fixed several stability issues
Again, it's meant to be at least 20% faster than FF5.

It didn't direct me to the update, but I downloaded it now with the "About Mozilla Firefox" thing.

The changelog is good, useful stuff.

  10. When I had "use hardware acceleration when available" ticked, tooltips wouldn't pop-up, neither did the scroll icon (when you middlelick), it now works.

Doesn't feel different other than that.

Websites open a bit quicker for me actually. Had some stability issues with 7 anyway, let's see if they will happen too after this update.

Nothing too noticeable, but yeah. At least they always tweak it further so that it's always slightly more agile, and that's very noticeable given the number of recent updates compared to what we had 6 months ago. It's what I like the most other than a handful of big updates.

Versions 9 (now beta) and 10 (now aurora~alpha) will feature interface changes. Version 9 will be out on December 20, and the first nightly version of FF11 is available.

By the way, the thread title is totally obsolete

LOL, that's the idea I had.

Thunderbird 8 is out too. I'm a user of both.

    Same here.

OK, FF8 is definitely a good deal faster. Every site I've hit up since I upgraded has been noticeably faster.

I use both mail managers. I do have an old hotmail account with some use, as well as other three for junk and occasional work, and Live Mail manages those best. But I use Thunderbird (with dictionary and calendar add-ons) for my main accounts.
