no, i'm not getting a Vita right now because of price, gotta pay other bills atm...
Just an observation of how many really good PS games are up on the store. Between Vita games/PSP games/PSone games, I'll never have to play a mediocre titles, like, ever'-)

Wow hot shots golf is the most terribly rigged game I have ever played. This AI is the cheapest shit in the world. I really was enjoying the game and am really liking it. However it's impossible to win. This guy i'm on now.....total cheat. I get within 6 ft of a birdie on a par 3, with a bunch of wind. He hits the flag pole has it bounce 3 yards away, then has the ball do super spin right into the hole..... such a load of crap.
welcome to the world of Hot Shot Golf! that was the only reason i stopped playing it on the PS2. i remember playing the perfect hole once only to see the other guy hit a hole in one from an impossible position. annoying as hell... but still a great game when playing with a friend
A homing shot (super backspin hitting the pole), spiral shot (super sidespin) or rising shot (super forwardspin) is what those are called when you hit the pole and magic happens, lol. It's the quirky side of the series (think like the flaming slam dunks in NBA Jam), but it is not at all easy to do and even the computer does not do it all that often like you making it sound. The courses themselves are usually way more difficult than the player matches against the computer are, but the course conditions, from the lie, wind/weather conditions, club selection, etc. is on par with most other golfing sims out there. The computer during player matches are not that hard to beat tho really. I usually whoop the computer during those matches in like my first set, whereas it could take me dozens of times to beat the more difficult courses during reg. stroke match tourneys. The game can frustrate me at times, but I moreso blame my own skill level or mistakes/misjudgments that I make than think that the game is outright cheating or rigged cuz I can see, understand, appreciate & ultimately enjoy the realistic aspects of the game.
I've also NEVER had the computer hit a hole-in-one on me on this one or part 5 (which is when I started the series at; played another one a bit on the og psp tho as well) and have only 1nce hit one myself, but not during a match, but I aimed to get one on 1 particular beginner's course on part 5 during practice mode when I had my character maxed out). I will say the game does get quite difficult later on, but it still feels realistically so, but I can see how it could discourage some folks. Not me tho, I keep playing till I at least ace all the courses/tourneys in SP mode and max out a few of my fav. characters.
Also, Masteratt (the hell your name mean anywayz, are you a master of AT&T services or something, lol), the game does inform you about those shots during loading screen, which those screens also can be selected somewhere within the game options menus I believe and are also mentioned in the manual.
I love the super pin shot specials tho, as it adds a bit of charm to the otherwise, much less dynamic sport out there. Also, I rarely play serious sports games, so this being a bit less serious, but still quite realistically challenging is right up my alley. I never fucked with golf or golf games till this one piqued my interested with how colorful 5 looked.

Yeah at 3-1 the courses (especially the wind!) is giving me a much harder challenge than AI ever has (so far!). There is this one course on 3-1 I think, hell might be the first one, where it's an island and has strong winds. You calculate it wrong or don't get perfect impact, your ball is in the drink 98% of the time. Tried it three times and rage quit lol. It's good kind of rage quit though, one that makes you want to retry 5mins later.
I am glad I got into this series, might be something I dig even more once I get all the little tips and trick and yes I am aware of the Data > Extras screen (or something along those lines) where there are all the gameplay instructions and stuff but I didn't see a mention of special shots anywhere in there. Also I checked the manual on the VITA, and it wasn't much more insightful.
Remember though we get Everybody's Golf here. I think this game has like three different branding for three different regions so manuals/ tips might differ who knows. Anyway I found out about it due to the trophy that said "do a homing shot and win" [or something like that] and that lead me to google wtf it was and the rest is obvious.
And my name is super gay, picked it in 2006 when I was pretty high on myself. It stands for master attitude lol. I can't change it though, been using it for so long it embedded itself into me. Sometimes it talks to me, tells me to burn things.
I do recall that now. That's why the birthday thing must have popped into my head, just didn't make the full connection. Well it's always very important to keep to budget and I am glad we have some responsible people when it comes to finance.
Now if you'll excuse me *enjoys playing the golf game, even more knowing viper wants to but can't play it*![]()
I guess I just got unlucky? I ended up beating him on the following holes and ended 3 up. I did see in the instructions about spin, but it doesn't do a good job of instructing you. I tried following it and could not get spin. Finally I figured out that you have to press one direction and then the other in order for it to work at all (the instructions acted like that was just for even more spin). That is one thing I found very confusing, because I think in tiger woods you could select which area of the ball you wanted to hit to create spin, have a higher loft, etc. However I think i'm just going to have to google how to best do some of this stuff and then learn about the special shots (it said I unlocked some shot with triangle/circle but can't figure out what it was).
I will use your advice masteratt and google for tips.
You can on tee shots. But technically in golf you can't adjust the ball at all unless you mark it as unplayable, then you have to take a drop (penalty stroke) and you don't get to place it, you just drop it and play it where it lands.
The problem I was having was adjusting where you struck the ball, but I am somewhat learning how to do it, just kind of difficult to grasp as the instruction booklet is kind of worthless at instructing.
Oh ok. I may have gotten my instructions on how to do it all from part 5 and just carried the knowledge over, lol. Sorry bout that. But yeah, perfect impact has to be done on top of doing one direction to the other. Also, probably not cleraly explained in this game, but you can combined those sort of shots together too, like you can press down/back to down/forward, and vice-versa and all of the other sort of directional combinations. The same thing applies tho, that if you want to get it to do exactly those sorf shots or that type of spin, PERFECT IMPACT is CRUCIAL. It'll fall short of doing the super version and just do regular spin otherwise. Of course, your golfer's stats and clubs/balls plays a factor in how that works too. Also, teh wind conditions and lie can play against you or in your favor. Top spin goes lower, so wind plays less resistance. The reverse can be said for backspin. And of coure, the super versions of those gives it that extra oomph. You might want to tailor your golfer to the type of courses you're playing on and the type of shots you're going for or have various characters that specialize in one or the other or make an all-arounder character for balance.

I know the special shots are definitely mentioned in the data screens and I'm almost certain that you can access the data screens in the options menu somehwere. I'll hope on sometime today when I get a break here (at work, vita always one deck tho) and check that out.
Yeah, I'm immensely satisfied with the series. My only complaints would be that they should keep putting the old games courses & characteres into the new games just for more scenary. Hell, even if it was just for DLC, I'd pay for them if priced appropriately (and it'd be even more sensible to have it if you owned whatever older games that you could get those characters added in either for free or seriously reduced price) and my other complaint/request would be for them to incorporate a putt putt course on there. Even if it was only one 18-hole course, I'd be happy.
LOL @ ya name! Cool, makes sense now.

I am more nitpicking on UI/UX. I would like to have status bar interactive like in Android, pull down to get quick access to all the apps running (like the implementation in ICS, which is inspired by WebOS)
@pari : Out of curiosity, what don't you like about it?
I'll do a proper review of the system after I played more with it.
The thing that annoys me most is, from home screen if I launch playstation store or the games I get start button on the tear away page which fells layered upon. The tearaway page is used to kill the app but adds additional step for launching which is annoying not flowing well. If ICS kind of interactive status is implemented then swipe away to kill the app and no tearaway page mode will be required. And the notification bubble on the right top corner would be context sensitive and hold all the other actions that shows on the tearaway page for each app.
Currently the top bar shows what all apps are running and instinctively feels like want to pull the bar down to get the status like in Android phone status bar...
The polish is missing and it feels more like Eastern vs Western philosophical view about UI/UX... Sometimes UX is confusing little bit and does not feel logically coherent (dunno how else to say)...
Still loving my Vita, about to start my second run on Uncharted. I'm a headshot master with these dual sticks.
