Average graphics? I still think it's one of the best looking open world games released so far.
The animations sucked, but the other stuff was fine. Also don't forget that Oblivion was released 5 years ago, a lot of time to improve the engine.
I meant average in comparison to the pics of the new Elders Scrolls game. I phrased that wrong but i think you know what im getting at. As for the engine you know it was used to make Fallout 3 and New Vegas right? The two most buggy games ive ever played bordering almost on completely unplayable at times.
Im not in here to bash the games! I absolutely loved them but im tired of their lies and lack of support when they release something thats clearly broken. This is because of an engine they refuse to scrap. They have ID tech 5 at their disposal and they keep giving us broken freaking games. Its really unacceptable!!!

Where did you guys hear it was running on the old gamebryo engine? As far as I knew this was a new engine. Just like Unreal Engine 3 games they have a certain look about them that ties them together, same with Oblivion and the Fallout games, they had a certain look that could tell you. This has nothing to do with art styles BTW. This game has a completely different look and feel to it. (its like using a block of wood and painting it all different ways. Even though there are different paint jobs, upon observation one can tell they were all painted on a block of wood.) Oblivion/Fallout=block of wood. This looks like Metal.
It was either Eurogamer.de or Golem.de... not sure, but both sites are German, anyways

I don't care what it runs on, it looks great.
And 5 years on an engine that isn't change too much = Lots less bugs (one would assume).
And APPARENTLY the "creation engine" is based on GAMEBRYO.
The developer Bethesda Software calls the engine "Creation Engine", which is the base for the TES5 on PC, 360 and PS3. It isn't completely new, however, as it is based on the Gamebryo Engine from Emergent Gae Technologies, which was already used in 2006 by Oblivion and recently by Fallout New Vegas.

Well it's not all that unreasonable, considering it's going to be used for the same type of games. If a game is a house, and engine is the foundation, well, the foundation can be properly designed for the house, but if you have a bunch of retards build it out of graham crackers, it's still gonna suck ass. Here's hoping they've wised up, and are putting the concepts together better.
Well... Golem is by no means a gaming website... so they might be wrong... but Wikipedia says, "Creation Engine" uses parts of Gamebryo... so... maybe they misconstrued, maybe Wikipedia is wrong... whatever. The engine itself is only partly to blame for the buggy games Bethesda released, though... There are other Gamebryo games MUCH less buggy than Oblivion... well most of them aren't open world either, but still...

Well according to that tech article I posted they're using some features of the engine used in New Vegas, then they've gone back and added new features and tools and enhanced the engine for Skyrim as it's a different gaming environment/type of game. A lot of Devs do that, I don't see a problem, at least they see it's differnt to Vegas... So hopefully it'll be good.
Anyway, Wikipedia articles are written by just anyone, can't rely on it as fact(they're right usually though). Why it's banned as a source in Uni...
Because in Uni they only care about HOW you get things done (so they want you to put in tedious hours when you can just get the info from Wiki), not WHAT you get done, which is the exact opposite of how it works in real life....
Na... that's not it at all... at least from my experience. Wikipedia simply isn't a scientific source. But following the annotations in Wikipedia itself is the trick...

Finally... "living" characters... hopefully their animations also stand up to the challenge. And hopefully, the PC version will have better textures, too (looking at the maids dress) and the bar. And I hope they make the third person view actually playable this time around. I want to SEE my character in his armament in action!!
