Looks pretty... but one thing (that also makes me mad about most racing games, GT5 less so (I know, this sounds very fanboyish... and to counter that... after many hours playing GT5, I stopped dead and am bored by it by now...)) is the plastic-y look of the metal and the muted look of the rubber on the tyres. The bumper on the silver car looks wrong. I cannot really pinpoint what I think is wrong. It's something about the reflections, I think. And the last thing... AO is missing. Though I guess it'd be asking a bit much from a 60fps game. Makes the cars look a little floaty, though.

Last but not least... I think games (in general) need to take "real world" stuff into account. Especially games like these, that try to minutely mimmick photorealism. Stuff gets dirty. Even a factory fresh car won't look as clean as this... Motorstorm does it, but... well that's a different game altogether^^

i played the demo. i still think its too early. now graphically. its not that much better than 3 from what i saw. 360 is old. its reaching its limits. the gameplay wasn't any different. if anything it felt too easy. the brake assist brakes for you. i held the gas the whole time and perfectly cornered. eh. i think they are begining to throw the kinect onto it just to sell kinect to the core crowd.

i'm a forza lover and this is a let down. not too excited. i'll continue to play 3 and wait for the price to go down on this.
    i represent the uninformed consumer.

The latest Colin Mcrae DIRT title is the best racing game I have played.

On PC with the graphics tuned up to the max it beats everything else there is out of the water. I'll upload a video of my rallying adventures across Kenya soon.

  8. Very happy with the lighting now visually its a pretty nice bump over F3. 12 Cars per track - car handling has been tweaked feels much more weighty with a slight hint of PGR thrown in. Its the best looking 60 fps racer on consoles for sure but at the same time shows the limits of the current systems.

Overall nice but everyone seems to be over car games (inc me) having got their fill of GT5 and F3 what more is there? This could be the best sim out there but were only nudging the genre at this point.

disclaimer: all my opinions from the demo.

I read everywhere it's an excellent game, I'll buy it for sure in the beginning of next year.

It's good, but when you played a lot FM3 and/or GT5 in the last year it could become a bit boring. At least that's the impression I get when I talk to a lot of people. The features are nice, but Autovista is the only really new thing, all the other stuff was already in FM3.

If you liked FM3, but not the graphics, or if you like GT5 but were annoyed by the sound, the game is definitely something for you. The livery editor is epic anyway.

What I never got about GT5s sound is, that from the external view, a lot of the engines/exhausts sound SOOO good, but in bumper etc. cams they don't. It might be more physically correct, but it's just dumb to make it sound more boring.

If the cars would sound good, that effect wouldn't really matter. I find the damping and change of noises good (transmission whine etc.) great, but that's the wrong thread. lol
