    Cool UNCHARTED 3: Drake's Deception

That right it's happening, premier set for VGAs, video and info at link

Here’s what we can tell you: First off, obviously the title is not “Uncharted 3: World of Deceit,” as has been rumored here and there on the Internet. Still: Good guessing with the “deceit” thing. According to Naughty Dog’s creative director Ann Hennig, the theme of deception plays out in multiple ways throughout the threequel, from Drake doing the deceiving to Drake being deceived to some mysterious deception about Drake’s very identity. The story focuses on the hero’s relationship with his mentor and father figure, fan fave Victor “Sully” Sullivan, and has him searching for a legendary lost city that will ultimately take him to the Arabian Peninsula and the vast wasteland of the Rub’ al Khali Desert, also known as the Empty Quarter. (Said legendary lost city has been known by various names, including “Iram of the Pillars” and the “Atlantis of the Sands”; click the link for more backstory.)
The execs at Naughty Dog walked us through one of the game’s levels, and while we can’t tell you anything about the locale (it actually wasn’t the desert), we can tell you that it was quintessential Uncharted, marked by dynamic camera work and gameplay that requires you to jump and climb through treacherous spaces that are in an almost constant state of change — or in this case, catastrophic collapse. Innovations? Several, including enhanced backward climbing and the ability to fight multiple baddies at once. Finally, Wells stressed that much time and effort is being lavished upon expanding Uncharted’s online multiplayer and co-op capabilities, too; expect more details to come in the coming months

Doing so gives the consumer more value for their entertainment dollar — especially in a weak economy, and esepcially among videogame consumers more prone to buying just a few games a year. It also creates a market for additional downloadable content for purchase (Uncharted zombie maps, anyone ? ), and cultivates an avid community of what Wells calls “evangelists” that can help create buzz future products. “We want to take on the big boys of the multi-player genre,” says Wells, no doubt alluding to multiplayer giants Call of Duty and Halo. “It has become something here at Naughty Dog that will become an important part to all our games.
Faith in Naughty Dog always !
I was not deceived by the online DLC and content for Uncharted 2. They really did a good job.
The online had few flaws but they did correct the exploits and glitches.
But please....please....I know Bungie helped ND for the online. Infinite Ward too....but please
NO ZOMBIE mod in Uncharted 2 !!! ( zombies or mummies whatever )...

Well desert confirmed as debated before...Can't wait to see what they can do with sand and dynamic sand. They did so well with the snow effect in Uncharted 2.

It doesnt get better than this!!!!!!

Its amazing that even though the games dont have much in common the environments in Drake 1 + 2 are what i expected Tomb Raider to look like this gen and now these new pics make me wish Prince of Persia looked that good!!!! Its amazing how just an environment can immerse you in the gameplay before you even touch a game and Naughty Dog are the absolute king of those. Fuck me im HAPPY!!! 2011 will be the greatest year ever if i can afford it.

@Solidsnakejej: take every single game on your list except Bulletstorm and Brink and you have my list plus:

The pics kinda remind me of Three Kings and the man that directed it is busy with the Uncharted Movie. I wonder if this will tie in some how since i get the impression we are going to meet some family in this game.

Also in the Key features bullet points they list BIGGER SET PIECES!!! Is that even possible on PS3??? All my top action set pieces were in Uncharted 2

Sorry guys but as much as i love Team Ico i think i have my GOTY right here!!!!

  16. Upgrade puzzles to make them a bit more difficult than primary school level.

    @AC!D: BLASPHEMY

Uncharted is great, no doubt about it, but I still give the original Uncharted a higher score than part two. Technically, it was a more polished game, so I can understand why UC2 would be rated higher than UC. But from a gamer's perspective, Uncharted felt more original, IMO had better pacing, and really felt fresh throughout the entire game.

Set-pieces are amazing the first time you playthrough, but there's nothing that stacks up against gameplay. And I feel like the gameplay was more of the same and could certainly use more refinement. I like the blend of combat/shooting, but perhaps they could run away with one of those elements and really create something unique here.

The Uncharted franchise is still a title very much identified by the sum of its parts. There isn't one gameplay aspect that really stands out, in fact I'd say the most innovative element of the series is the high quality voice acting and dialog during the game, and of course the blockbuster moments--both non-gameplay features. So what I really want out of the series is for the actual gameplay aspects to innovate or evolve a bit more. The comment about fighting multiple enemies has me intrigued. Why not go for a pure action vibe with the combat system and give Drake the ability counter, grapple, evade and do some basic combos with that Hollywood flair the series is known for. Or maybe they'll delve further into the platforming aspect and actually have you platform without any "assistance".

Very much looking forward to it, but I just don't hold the series in the same prestige as Team Ico's games. They've carved out there own niche with the partner/relationship element of there games. And the simple controls and fluid animation is second to none. Uncharted needs to step up in the gameplay department before it's up there with the big boys, or I fear no matter how good the dialog and story gets, or how pretty it is, it will begin to get stale.

Absolutely agree... I've gotten the feeling that todays (the past 5 years or so) games are made for dumber and dumber people. I remember playing Silent Hill 3 on "hard puzzles" mode, which had me sort books according to quotes from Shakespeare books (or something to that degree... it's been quite a while). And now... "put a into b"... that's about it.

BUT... if I am lucky, I'll be the owner of a 3D monitor (for my PC, mostly) by the end of this year, since Acer finally made a HDMI1.4 compatible one... then I'll enjoy this game in full 3D
    Kept you waiting

You should hear the endless bitching in Castlevania reviews about the puzzles being too difficult and then you can understand why Naughty Dog dont want to go down that route. Im with you though i would prefer more difficult platforming and puzzling but that will never happen because they want it to be easy for noobs to get into.

@OmniStalgic: Uncharted was repetitive and lacked some of the amazing physics, set pieces and the variety in enemies from the second. Even the puzzles were better than the first games even though they were still not very challenging. Also the co-op and Multiplayer are sublime and add hours to the gameplay so you can rate Uncharted higher but ive struggled to go back to the original and yet ive played the sequel 4 times already and i never get sick of it. First your over the top issues with GOW3 and now Uncharted 2? Whats up with you lately Omni??? Even Castlevania which you call your GOW killer you only gave a B score. So what was GOW3 a C ???

Come on man find the enjoyment in games again and dont become one of those jaded fools that spend the first 3 hours looking for faults and then ruin the rest of the game for themselves. The Original was great but its time to evolve and improve and thats what Naughty Dog keep doing. Imagine the implications of sand alone in this game!!!

  20. I only played a bit of Castlevania (nothing hard there and you can BUY solutions anyway) but c'mon dude, put shapes into it's colour matching place is just way too patronising. And they had ha hint system for that LOL...I wanted to turn off the game it was so bad.
I literally paused and thought my way of life lol.
"just what the heck am i playing here....who is this for..."
