I guess the haters have arrived *sigh*
Errr.Sorry I tried to discuss it in a light hearted manner about it's easy puzzles.
Carry on.

Ok, U3 will win again best graphics in 2011.
I'm so excited about this one, and very curious about : "Naughty Dog introduces new physics, visuals, and environmental effects. UNCHARTED 3: Drake's Deception features new innovations in sand, fire, smoke, and water dynamics and effects.". A part of me can't wait to see the first game-play footage, but on the other hand I know I should avoid all pics and future movies to have the FULL SHOCK when the game is released.
We are made of the same stuff of dreams
I dunno, never really bothered me that much mainly because I know why it's there in that capacity. Yes, they could be harder but they wanted the game to be accessible. Considering the amazing experience that U2 was...i didn't even give the puzzle difficulty a second thought.
They shouldn't have photoshopped Drake like that, but looking good nonetheless.

@AC!D: yeah, God of War 3 was definitely a C without the graphical flair. (C+ with it) I'll admit though, the first time I played it, I was pretty wowed with the visuals and quick time moments in the boss fights. But, it was still the same gameplay as the original, a little improved, a little smoother, but they didn't go all the way out. GOW's combat isn't static either, they could certainly make it as deep as a DMC/NG system if they desired, but they just focused on the visuals and set-pieces, which I'm just getting tired of reallyYa'know, that's what movies are for. I enjoyed Castlevania a lot more, but it still wasn't amazing, though the ending did reach epic levels

I agree with you on the Uncharted series. The sequel is certainly much improved over the original, but since the gameplay formula didn't change/evolve as much as I would've like, I didn't enjoy it as much as the first experience. I beat Uncharted on crushing, but I never went back to Uncharted 2 despite just about everything being improved. I'm not being jaded (or trying to at least) but the core game is pretty much unchanged, and I don't feel Uncharted has the legs to not drastically improve it's gameplay yet.
For example, the Zelda franchise core hasn't changed a whole lot since Ocarina of Time. However, every game feels almost completely different. It's because link has a lot of gameplay features already attached to him, on top of getting stronger and the RPG elements that are always added to the games, link can just do more stuff than Drake.
That's my gripe with the series I guessI understand that it is difficult because the game is split between an action title and 3rd person shooter, but I would love if Drake actually had a combat engine. It doesn't have to go toe-to-toe with Dante's, but I think you get where I'm coming from. Cool stories are great, but the gameplay needs to be worked on first before they start talking about bigger set pieces

They say "high resolution stereoscopic 3D"... I know they didn't get uncharted's engine to run at 720px2 at 30fps... unless they made some big compromises. few games can even claim to look anywhere near as good as the first 2 in 2D!

However, Uncharted 2 runs very smoothly, which means they had an overhead already. Why wouldn't they be able to improve their U2 engine to achieve a greater graphical output that would bring a considerably higher margin to allow 3D? The 3D tech wouldn't require raw double output.
Not that I believe U3 will be a miraculous jump over U2, but Naughty Dog aren't exactly untalented. I wonder if MLAA is in, which would save GPU resources over the previous titles.

F 3D it's overrated IMO.![]()
Oh my god, so excited, can't wait...
Oh SHIT. I'm amped lol. Looks like the VGA's has picked up some of E3's slack. I'll really be looking forward to the VGA's from now on...
PS3 Aka. The Swiss Army knife of Consoles:If theres anything it can't do...you probably shouldn't be doing it.
It does for things like geometry, and if they're running 720p 3D, the frame buffer is going to be twice as big as it was before so they are going to have to make that much extra room for it. If they pull of 720p 3D at a solid 30fps without having to compromise on the visual quality we've come to love with uncharted, I'll be damn impressed. However, Uncharted 2 runs very smoothly, which means they had an overhead already. Why wouldn't they be able to improve their U2 engine to achieve a greater graphical output that would bring a considerably higher margin to allow 3D? The 3D tech wouldn't require raw double output.

As for 3d being overrated (Bsack), when it comes to video and movies, I kinda agree. It's cool only for certain things, like sports or video games. Video games are a completely different world in 3D when done properly. It really does add to the level of immersion, and the 3D effect is a lot more noticeable. You aren't looking at staged shots like you are in a movie, but a real time 3D world that moves around you in full 3D. It actually makes judging distances from one area to the next a lot easier, offering a gameplay advantage.
Hate on it all you want, but play GT5 in 3D for a bit first, then tell me how overrated it is. but don't knock it till' you've tried it.

I think when it comes to video/movies it looks terrible most of the time and the 3D graphics everyone seems to be so impressed by really doesn't do much for me with the Avatar being the only exception so far. I guess I've only seen 3D when it's done improperly for the most part, so who knows what I've seen whether it was done properly or not. I don't agree that it adds anything to video games because believe it or not I've played a few titles in 3D already at a Sony store in Florida and other random shops/friends houses. I'm still not privy (sp?) on the whole you gotta wear some stupid overly expensive 3D glasses to have this miniscule effect. For me, definitely not worth it, but it works for you so kudos. I didn't find any advantages from judgement either other than the blatant disadvantage it gave me with extremely watery eyes while trying to keep focused. It just didn't work for me and caused more of a eye strain than any kind of pleasure.
So in conclusion I can hate on it all I want because it's nothing I'll ever be interested in especially if it's something I've tried and didn't like. If I have to invest money into a pair of glasses to have some sort of enjoyment from this technology you can count me out. You're correct though I've never played GT5 let alone in 3D, but that won't ever happen because I'm not a fan of the racing genre. Maybe sometime in the future they will figure out how to make 3D viewable without the glasses, so until that day comes I'll be passing on the whole marketplace for it and probably even then I'll still pass on it. HD graphics are enough for me and I definitely think this technology will fail, but that's merely my opinion.
frosty if you wanna have a nice little chat about this then PM me because I don't want this thread derailed from our conversation that will inevitably turn into some flame war. It always happens especially with some of the "sensitive" types we have on this GAMING discussion forum area.
Oh, Uncharted 3 is gonna kick major ass continue discussion.

You can hate all you want, but that doesn't make 3D bad or anything, either. Some people, like me, really care about it. You don't, that's your opinion.
Kept you waiting
Uuncharted 3!!! been waiting for this movi- sorry, game since 2 came out.... TBH I wasn't that interested in uncharted 1 when it first came out, not really my type of game - but damn... 2 blew me away.
Nice to see they aren't lying down, new environments, new effects... can't wait. As long as the voice acting and plot is as intense and polished as U2 was, I'll be happy![]()
Yes, let's get back to talking about how much ass Uncharted 3 is going to kick... in 3D.
3D in uncharted would make the game a lot more enjoyable to me. The vast environments (thinks about the snow/temple areas in U2, or the rooftop) would be amazing in full 3D, especially with the ability to look around and explore them. Not only that, but judging the distances between platforms when jumping will be a lot easier.
They also mentioned move support, but I didn't catch how. Have they talked about that yet?
