I recently purchased an Xbox 360S with the 250 gb hdd and have been researching how to transfer my data from my old 20 gb hdd. Some people say you can use a flash drive, but haven't been able to figure out if you can use just any flash drive or if you have to use the xbox flash drive... does anyone know if you can use any flash drive or perhaps even an external hdd?
You can use any flash drive, I just got a 120GB hard drive yesterday and transferred everything from my 20GB with an external drive. You have to format the drive though and if you don't do custom it will wipe the entire drive.
When you go to system settings and memory select say the games folder on your 20GB and press 'y' to transfer content and everything should already be selected for the transfer. Select the device you want to put it on and repeat to transfer from that to the new 360.
The flash drive has to be at least 1 or 2GB. I tried using a 256MB flash drive and it wouldn't work.
