Crazy Taxi Cruises Onto PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade

Dreamcast and Arcade Classic Now Available in HD

    SAN FRANCISCO - November 16, 2010

SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced that Crazy Taxi™ is now available for download on PlayStation® Network, and will be available next week, Nov. 24, on Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Digitally remastered with High-Definition 720p graphics, players can enjoy all the fun of the original arcade and Dreamcast™ classics for a fare of $9.99 or 800 Microsoft points. PlayStation®Plus Members can snag this title for 20% off for the first two weeks of release, until November 30, 2010.

“If today were the debut of Crazy Taxi, we’re certain its unique blend of arcade action and precision driving would still lead it to become one of SEGA’s most popular titles,” said Haruki Satomi, VP of Digital Business of SEGA of America. “This new and improved entry in the series will bring as much joy and happiness to players in 2010 as the previous games have in years past.”

In Crazy Taxi, players must barrel through traffic-packed streets, hurtle off parking garages, and crazy dash their way to big money in a frantic race to scare up the most fares. In addition to being digitally re-mastered in HD, Crazy Taxi includes leaderboards and trophy awards, two game modes (Arcade and Original) and 16 mini games to hone players’ insane driving skills.

  2. Oh that bowling stage brings some memories. I've spent ages trying to perfect that.
    I think I managed eventually.

These games are better in memory so I don't think I'll get this.

  3. I see it every now and then in arcades. The physics are a bit wonky, but for pure arcade action few got it better than this.
"A-I-D-A. Attention, Interest, Decision, Action. Attention - Do I have your attention? Interest - Are you interested? I know you are, because it's fuck or walk. You close or you hit the bricks. Decision - Have you made your decision for Christ? And Action." (Alec Baldwin in Glengarry Glen Ross)

I still have them both on dreamcast. If this were bundled with 2 it might be worth while. Crazy Taxi 1 doesn't really have a whole lot of diversity to it. I remember playing it in an arcade a month or two ago and being like 'yeah... I used to think this game was awesome, now it's kind of meh'. Which due to the nature of the game and the way games have changed over the years, playing the same 'level' over and over with a timer counting down kind of seems unappealing for whatever reason.

  5. The level design still holds up pretty well, surprisingly. Nothing revolutionary, but the arcade and original are interesting and different enough to require a certain set of skills and memory, which is at the heart of all arcade titles.

And if you buy now, you can see me on the leaderboard for the arcade and original versions (PS3, obviously). Meaningless, perhaps, but I thought I'd throw it out there.
