Fable 3 Disaster

First, some background. My wife is not a gamer. She likes games, and doesn't mind gaming. Occasionally she will play a co-op game on the Wii with me - mostly New Super Mario Bros, but in short, she's just not a gamer. For some reason, she loves the Fable series. She does not play it, but LOVES to watch me play it. In fact, she does let me play Fable unless she is watching so she can see the story unfold, etc.

I preordered my game and received the "Create a Village" bonus code. You make a villager, it shows up in your game, and it gives you a quest. So here is where my great idea comes in...I thought it would be fun to create my wife as that villager. While she is watching the game, we will run into "her" and do her quest. Good idea right...?

Villager made, imported into game, playing along, and then we run into her character. "Hey look, it's you, you're in the game". So far so good. I go up to her character, she gives me a quest, go find her dad. I'm thinking - easy enough; go find him, bring him back, epic win. I so set off for the quest. I run out, and find out that the character's father is dead and you have to go back and tell her.

Here's what sucks...about four months ago, my wife's father passed away after battling cancer for four years. As she is watching "her" character, needless to say, it hits home and we have tears.

After a couple of minutes she regains her composure, but I was required to give gifts, be nice to "her", and was even required to marry her on the spot before resuming normal play.

No complaints, plus she is doing fine. Just a perfect storm of coincidence that turned what seemed into a great idea into an epic fail moment.
