Post PSN maintenance over, fully operative now

We've posted about it in other threads, but since it's the longest one I remember it might be remarkable to mention as it very probably implies some behind the scenes work for announcements at E3 next week.

    PlayStation Network Regular Scheduled Maintenance
Posted by Patrick Seybold // Sr. Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media

Maintenance is expected to start at 8am Pacific and will last for several hours, until approximately 8:30pm Pacific. During this time, users won’t be able to access the PlayStation Store or Account Management, and may encounter some difficulty while signing in to PSN.

Stay tuned to the PlayStation Twitter feed for updates and a notice when PSN is fully back online.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

In other words, it starts barely two hours from now, so go grab the latest content from the PSN store unless you don't mind waiting to avoid any potential trouble.

I don't know whether it applies to anywhere outside the US, but you can use this thread to report and speculate.

Rumor has it, a new FW will hit tomorrow or so... either way, wouldn't it be cool, if it did NOTHING new at first but unlock new functionality over the course of next week? I mean, on Monday, we get 3D, on Tuesday, we get "the new store" (just guessing, but it's due for a clean up), on Wednesday we get the new HTML5/WebM browser, on Thursday, we get .MKV and other video support and on Friday, we get something else...

I'd love that^^ And we know that Sony can remotely activate and deactivate XMB options (F@H, Home, BBC Player where remotely enabled w/o a firmware update).

rumour has it that Sony could well be readying for a complete overall of PSN, including full PS3 games for download. there are a few out there already, but the rumour is that Sony are about to do for the PS3 what they did for the PSP

Yeah, some german website put out those rumors, iirc... dunno if that can be trusted, though...

Either way... a store overhaul is sorely needed... not just is it boring, it lacks coherence, most stuff has no trailers, although the option exists AND most stuff does have trailers on GT and whatnot, it's "hard" to navigate (although 1000x better than the old one).

12 hours is their longest yet and right before E3? something big is about to happen, i can feel it. it could also be the new PSN paid system... maybe PS2 games for download? if they give people a 3 month free trial, it could boost PSN by a huge amount

edit: i also like the idea you put forward of releasing new features each day during E3... that would be epic and give Sony/PS3 high coverage on the net for quite some time

Unless that wink only says "it's required to update"....Which'll be lame so I think that's a cheeky hint wink.

  10. What time did it start and when does it end? it's 7:50EST now. So... 12:50 GMT, right?

Read's OP: CRIPES. I can't even play SF online until 11:30?

There's a special kind of nerd though, who thinks computers will overtake mankind in thirty years, changing humanity in ways incomprehensible to us now, ignoring the third of the world without electricity. It gives spiritual significance to technology developed primarily for entertainment and warfare and gives nerds something to obsess over that isn't the crushing vacuousness of their lives.

  13. It'll end in 2hours and 30mins.
I'm staying up 80% because I want to and 20% because I want to see if anything is updated.

  16. Nothing. Probably preparing for things during E3 or something. Maybe a new feature, launch of PSN Platinum...Who knows.
No immediate update on anything I can see (on EU side).

The only thing that happend was that my Credit Card isn't working anymore in the US Store...damnit!
(However, Joe Danger was the same price in EU and US-Store, so no harm done ^^)
