I'm not optimistic of this game, because its fucking ActiCrap. Anything ActiCrap touches, fails in the quality department.

Get rid of kotick, and I'll redeem ActiCrap.

  2. ^I see what you did thar

Craptivision would have been roflier but I digress. Hopefully this game will fix some of the balance issues with the original. Proxy mines could shut down so many areas with no way past them and as awesome as Facility was back in the day, it lacks the flow of most of todays multiplayer levels. If they updated the maps and tweaked some weapon properties, this game will far surpass the original.

I memorized the spawn locations of many areas, so my friends would die upon respawn, sometimes many deaths in succession before spawning without an explosion in one's face.

  7. Here is why I could care less about the game. Does anyone remember when EA tried to bank off the Goldeneye name with Rouge Agent? Same deal here just different people doing it. This would be like if Halo or Mario got sold to another company or somehow and they took the most successful of them and just remade it with the same name. They should have just made it a Virtual Console and XBLA title when they could have a few years back instead of scrapping that. Would have been cheaper for them, and better for gamers.

    GoldenEye 007 'Classic Edition' detailed

Activision's partnered with Nintendo for a Limited Edition Controller Bundle for GoldenEye on Wii.

The bundle will include an exclusive gold Classic Controller Pro, apparently inspired by Francisco Scaramanga's infamous golden gun.

The controller does have a more practical application too (apart from looking glamorous) as it allows players to use a more traditional control scheme as opposed to the Wii Remote and Nunchuk control scheme.

GoldenEye 007 executive producer Julian Widdows recently said his team has something to prove with the remake and is pushing the Wii "incredibly hard".

GoldenEye 007 is one of two upcoming Bond games, the game is going head to head with the Bizzare Creations title, James Bond: Blood Stone.

Check out our recent interview with Bizarre about Blood Stone - the Bond game with everything.

I might be wrong on this but I think this will be the first FPS that allows for a mix of Wii controls and traditional controls. Will settle that debate on which is the better input method once and for all.

While I like that golden CCPro, I'll stick with the Wii controls.

The way HipHopGamer was raving about this game yesterday you would think Metroid didnt exist this month. He seemed really impressed.

I saw that and felt almost embarrassed watching it. We get it, cinematic but calm the fuck down, man. It's also odd because he's almost never, ever positive towards the Wii for anything but he was all over Goldeneye like it cleaned his house, cooked him dinner, gave him a blowjob and paid his taxes for him.

I'd love to be surprised but I'm not holding out much hope for the game. I expect it to be good but not great. And definitely not "OMG this shit is like cinematic, dawg. I'mma go jerk off to the box cover right now" level.

LMFAO! That's just golden. I was embarrassed watching because he's black, like me, and he's one of those ghetto-ass people who irritate me.

As much as I hate Daniel Craig, I really hope it turns out to be good. The original pretty much got me through high school.

I just hope it feels like the game it's a "tribute" to. If it's another Rogue Agent I'll be mad.

I don't mind Daniel Craig. He's a bit too different, but he's good at what he is.

I saw it at E3 and it looked like Goldeneye more so than Rogue Agent. All the previews I've read so far agree.

  20. I have played and finished Goldeneye's single player. Some thoughts:

Updating Goldeneye's story to 2010 was a smart idea because it would have been anachronistic. To their credit, they do a good job bringing Goldeneye to the present day with a terrorist theme and also staying generally true. There are some notable changes to the story and the order in which things happen, but the story is at least natural in its approach. Some of the motives remain a bit vague and there isn't much chemistry between Bond and Natalya this time around, but that has more to do with the way the story turns out than it has to do with the actors and their performances. Trevelyan isn't particularly intimidating, either, but he wasn't really that in the film, either. Part of the fun I had was seeing the changes and doing a little compare/contrast. Apples and oranges, but at least they didn't skimp on this like they could have. Helps that Goldeneye's writer, Bruce Feirstein, wrote the script for this game.

The level design, too, takes more than a few cues from the original Goldeneye, but it isn't enslaved or beholden to them. In many ways, they've been redesigned and retrofitted to give it a fresh look. The levels are also longer, too. Much longer. There are, I'd say, fifteen levels in the game, and just about all of them will take 15-20 minutes, and that's if you're a seasoned vet.

The gameplay isn't perfect, but the action is brutal and intense and the controls work surprisingly well. There are some framerate issues here and there and some minor hit detection quibbles, but from a gameplay standpoint this is the best Bond has looked since Everything or Nothing in 2004.

Top to bottom, I'd say the single-player is better in this iteration than in the previous one. That may sound like blasphemy, but it's the sad truth. Goldeneye's single-player in 1997 wasn't particularly remarkable even then. It had its moments, certainly, but on the whole it was kinda bland. True to the movie, certainly, but it had its yawns. Goldeneye for 2010 goes its own way and still has the flavor of the original. At least on this front, Goldeneye is worth the money.

Also, if you don't like the regenerating health trick, you can always play 007 classic. Be forewarned: It is very difficult.
"A-I-D-A. Attention, Interest, Decision, Action. Attention - Do I have your attention? Interest - Are you interested? I know you are, because it's fuck or walk. You close or you hit the bricks. Decision - Have you made your decision for Christ? And Action." (Alec Baldwin in Glengarry Glen Ross)
