Ah, my bad. Missed that part. Can't really compare the two though as Infamous is old now compared to RDR. Comparing sandbox games in terms of look is tough. So many things have to be taken into account like scale, art, density, etc. Take Just Cause 2 for example...that game is HUGE and parts of it look great but overall i'd say even GTAIV looks better. For a sandbox game RDR actually looks really good. Gonna be interested to see what Infamous 2 looks like.
Agreed.
As for Infamous2, as many said here, 60FPS is a must and so is less jaggies. They can downgrade the graphics to achieve those for all I care. When it's that satisfying to play, I tend not to care.
I'm also hoping for some crazy ideas with the electricity. First game worked well but basically we just had shotguns/ snipers/ grenades in electricity form. More original/ crazy power ideas needed.
I think the tech will be much better this time around as they had all the time for optimization, opposed to creating the engine and stuff like that. I am expecting AC1 to ACII type of difference. Hopefully ND showed them a thing or two as well.
As far as powers go i am really curious what they will do as it seems they already got pretty extensive with the electric powers. Really makes me wonder what else they can make. Either way, I can't wait.
Why, some parts of Infamous 1 was 60FPS. Near the pier as someone here said. It moved/ looked SOOOO good.
Well the engine for Infamous was a modified version of the Sly Cooper engine, they stated they now have a proper engine built for the PS3 so I would expect it to be greatly improved.
As for sandbox games, Infamous has been the only one I finished as of yet, played about an hour of GTA4 and was bored to tears, and RDR which in my opinion is a great improvement from GTA4, but still hasn't really grabbed me as much as I thought it would. It still holds your hand a bit too much, and the missions are quite simplistic. Though I can appreciate some of what they are portraying in RDR, I have to play more to make my final decision
Now Infamous is far from perfect in my eyes either as I didn't really like the cartoony look of the enemies (as everything else has a realistic look), a lot of the side missions were filler (but it is a sandbox style game so it is to be expected), and a few opportunities were presented that would have made great story/side missions but were not used (time constraints likely). It was the powers in the end that made playing in the world some much fun and drove me on. Not too mention there was some epic missions, that to my recollection is greater than anything I have played in the sandbox titles I have played. Story was good as well which is a nice plus.
So if you haven't played it go grab it, and give it a try. I believe it has been reduced in price in North America, and Europe got a platinum release so it should be relatively cheap, and definitely worth it at those prices.
From the little time I played the demo, I feel Infamous pushes the graphical envelope a lot more properly than GTA IV, certainly. I do agree that GTA IV does more on the CPU side and non-graphical features, probably. On the graphics side, and even though there's a good chance it's limited because of the CPU side of things, GTA IV doesn't look as good.
I'm only talking about graphics here, but I agree everything is connected. Still, we all know Rockstar didn't design their latest sandbox games around PS3's architecture. The results are still good, but they could have done so much better.
I might be overestimating Infamous right now, but I recently played GTA IV for a while and I found it so slow, choppy and blurry that it felt really bad. But I played it almost right after I finished God of War 3, which is so sharp and smooth that can make almost anything else look bad.

Well, GTA4s performance on PC is equally bad. Even on newer PCs, it still runs like a crook. It does however feature one of the best dynamic (realistic) lighting there is in a sandbox game. Infamous does things differently, and rightly so. It is a "comic" game, so it naturally has to deliver a different content. Man... if I just had a little money at the moment, I'd get it in an instant, but I am totally blank at the moment![]()
Is it only on the PC that it features particularly realistic lighting? I ask because I recall in GTA4 driving around at one point near the entrance to the subway and I could see the cone of light from the headlights penetrating the ground all the way into the subway tunnel.

Mind boggling to think people are comparing GTA4 graphically to....Everything, forgetting how much more detail (in everything..I could list pages and pages of details no other game even attempts) the GTA4 world holds compared to any open world game. Not to mention it's 2 years old now.
I'm getting the vibe from VG he is just disappointed it wasn't PS3 exclusive. And yeah you are definitely over-estimating Infamous I think. It looked like a PS2 HD game (not dissing the game, read above where I said it played better than GTA4).
Compare Infamous to Protoype if you are going to compare it to anything.
Not sure about that Timmy, but the lights in use (car headlights/ brake lights/ street lamps etc) are excellently dynamic in GTA4. And if they are not, they do a good job of 'fooling' you so they look pretty excellent dynamic. Walking behind or infront of cars at night always looks very nice.
Anyway, INFAMOUS 2.....

All I want to know is this: are they gonna take away Cole's powers that you earn in the first game and make you upgrade all over again or are you going to start off as a badass?
I vote for the upgrade all over one of course, ASSUMING, they are new powers.
Maybe start with all your old powers, and upgrade new ones, now that'll be badass but doubt they'll have that many powers.
I wouldn't mind having it set up so that you have all of Cole's end-game powers, but at their lowest level possible.

I mean, therein lies the tragedy of the sequel. Thanks for maxing out your character in the last game. RESET BUTTON. Oh shit you're weak again. They even do it in God of War III.. They need to think about how you can start the form of your sequel and the narrative of your sequel off in congruence with the previous game.
Edit: spoiler tags - are they different or are they gone?
Metroid practically raised it to an art form. How they kept up that many excuses for her goddamn suit to break with people only catching on a few years ago is as much a testament to their creativity as it is to shitty exosuit manufacturing.
I dont want to spoil the ending for anyone here but there is a power at the end of the game that we dont get to use that cole will eventually learn. It would make for some interesting gameplay if you guys that have finished the game know what im talking about. Hell it could make for some outstanding platforming sections and puzzles in inFAMOUS 2.
Im glad some of you are going to give the game a chance. I was worried that selling only 1.2 million copies might not let them get the green light from Sony for a sequel but fortunately it has. Here's hoping the second one reaches at least 2 million in sales. Sucker Punch sure as hell deserve it. Its still tied as my favourite superhero game this gen along with Batman. Maybe with Batman just edging it out. Hopefully inFAMOUS 2 will rectify that![]()
