HA! not exaclty 3d but cool never the less.
We the people...
That's why I called it tilt 3D. It's like head tracking but you're moving the whole display unit instead.
I wasn't completely impressed until they shifted the perspective just right to create the shape of the letter "A" and realized that was the puzzle element for the game. So it's not only just pretty cool tech but damn smart utilization of it.
i'm impressed.
- A LunaticYou wanna destroy the nation, balance the budget.
That looks so adorable and cool. I want to try it!!!
Oh, and P.S. That puzzle with the "A" reminded me a lot of Echochrome, if Echochrome was an I Spy game instead.
That is freakin' excellent.
Like all great ideas, it feels odd it took this many years for someone to think of it.
echochrome would do well on psp with a camera adapter like that. this game just looks damn cool though. made me think, the camera could also be used as an accelerometer for tilt detection, but TRUST ME, you don't want motion controlled portable games. pac man on iphone was a bitch to control, you couldn't see the screen well when you had to tilt away.

I could have swore that there was something else that did this before the DSi. I don't want to say the iPhone, since that has motion sensors, but I thought that someone had thought of this a long time ago.
Still, looks kind of cool. Roommates will definitely want it if it makes its way stateside.
Pretty clever and impressive, the movement looks extremely fluid too.

This is all done with the camera. It takes a default base shot and then takes new images or video and compares them to the previous image or video frame and adjust the in game camera perspective based on the extent of those changes.
Wow, didn't notice this in the press release from yesterday: http://nintendonow.e-mpire.com/index...articleid=5754
The game is coming to America on May 17. Definitely picking it up!
* Looksley’s Line Up™ (Nintendo DSiWare, May 17): In this unique take on hidden picture games, Looksley the rabbit needs your help to find inspiring objects so he can finish the story he’s writing. The objects are hidden in 3-D dioramas made up of cutout layers that shift as you move the Nintendo DSi system. Unique Nintendo DSi camera-based controls let you peer deep into the game’s scenes and hunt for hidden objects just by moving the Nintendo DSi.
I'd say it's probably best to aim such a technology at kids, simply because they're too stupid to be as picky as you and me.

But that's the easy way out for any innovative technology.
I can think of plenty of uses of this technology in more complex games. Not so much that it is the focus of all gameplay but simply a camera option or tool. Think of a Paper Mario title, dungeons in RPG's, stealth action titles, etc...
Sorry, I should have clarified. I meant that since it's an early technology, it's best being aimed at kids for the time being, but once any and all kinks are worked out, more imaginative uses are excitingly inevitable.

Ah.
True a simple kids game would give the technology a low cost proof of concept on the market and give time to perfect it before more complex work began.
