Vanquish - October 19 - DEMO OUT NOW

Shinji Mikami's new game. The trailer is weird but you know the game is going to be awesome. Platforms havent been announced yet.

Looks like Lost Planet with intelligent life forms (humans or aliens).

Hmmm, they kind of totally lost me at "my fellow Americans". I don't enjoy games with such themes.

The design of the character reminds me of PN 03 mixed with Iron Man. Yeah i guess it will be an action TPS. Maybe they ll go and make a gears of war-lost planet like.

It really depends... for example Command and Conquer (rather Red Alert 1 and 2 to say the least) didn't make me vomit all the time because of this^^

The trailer was not real time, so who knows what the game'll look like in the end.

But... as long as it is third person, color me interested for now. Hopefully, this game will run better on PS3 than Bayonetta (although I am still not sure how much REAL impact that has on me in this particular game...)

The question is it even coming to PS3?

I ask the other way around... does it come to the 360? To PC? No platforms announced means probably HD consoles anyways...

Yeah! My fellow Helghans or nothing!

Lol, I didn't know they didn't announce the platforms... oh wait Acid said that in the OP :S

If it's PC... I'll have the PC version... lol.

Since it's a Mikami game, colour me interested. He has a habit of doing things better than the other guys. Third person action shooter + Mikami = I assume something fresh and exciting for us.

I thought the trailer was well done also. I feel like the effort that is put into a teaser trailer like that, very high production quality, signals a great force is behind the game. Just like how I feel a nicely done and creativ intro signals something for a TV show or movie. Obviously, not always the case, but with Mikami I'll take my chances.

We will be watching Mikami... bwahahaha!

    Nice pre-rendered trailer.
Will be mediocre bullshit at the end for sure, like Haze.

Yea Haze, that famously shit Mikami game...

It's got a pretty decent aesthetic and it's from Mikami, so I'm definitely interested. If it's just a "they attacked us so we're attacking them" story though... well, that's the main reason I never liked Halo.

You don't eat pigs, we don't eat pigs,
It seems it's been that way forever.
So if you don't eat pigs and we don't eat pigs,
Why not not eat pigs together?

    Hahaha, ah man, can't rep.

Ya, it looks cooler than your average shooter easily, and Mikami on top of that gives it keep-an-eye-on-it status for me easy I think.

Lol, people paid attention to the story in Halo? :P

Its not like everything Mikami did was sooo amazing.
I mentioned Haze because the CGI style in the trailer reminds me of it and most games with a trailer like this, which shows nothing how the gameplay could look like, are mediocre.

Hehe, just found out/was pointed to/had in my memory, the old leaked Sega documents from late last year... and guess what... they already mentioned Vanquish for PS3 (plus possible PSP integration)... so we can be sure it'll come to PS3!

    Vanquish and Aliens: CM
Opportunity for PS3/PSP interoperability (see Eidos Batman, Army of Two, Assassin's Creed for good examples).
If we offer that SCEA would be really interested in having us at their booth next E3.

Vanquish is PS3/360, it's confirmed. It's due to be out by Winter 2010. Mikami also says that while it is a third person shooter, it is not a "normal" shooter. It will emphasize speed and fast paced action, and you will also be shooting robots instead of humans.

The game setting is a near-future war between US and Russia. By setting it in the future, Mikami can use robots and high tech stuff to make the game more interesting. He says the reason why the enemies are all robots is because he wants to allow players who do not like shooting other humans to be able to play and appreciate the gameplay in shooters as well. The mech suit features a high speed booster which allows you to very quickly boost next to enemies to pull off close range attacks. There are a large variety of close range attacks moves in the game. There is a balance between using cover and using the boost, but it is definitely not a pure cover shooter. You do not pick up and change weapons in the game, instead your weaponry is part of the suit and it all transforms in realtime into different sorts of weapons. The game is about 80% complete, and they're working on refining the AI for both allies and enemes at the moment. There is a demo planned, and the game will be released in winter 2010
