Game recomendations for an 8 year old

My niece is 8 and my folks are getting her a DSi for christmas. I was going to get her a game for it as a present but couldn't name a single DS game as I've never ever used one.

Any games that would be a perfect fit for an 8 year old? Preferably something that's not difficult for a youngster to play.

  2. Garf you're giving your little niece no credit. :P

You might be surprised, maybe she's pretty good at DS games (I know I'm always surprised... I know 5 year olds, unrelated, who can play DS games better than me >.>).

    I recommend... Nintendogs! Lol j/k...

Grand Theft Auto.... China Wars! Ok not really...

Zelda Phantom Hourglass or Spirit Tracks would be good I think.

There's also the Mario & Luigi RPG series, Animal Crossing, New Super Mario Bros, Yoshi's Island, and Super Princess Peach. I don't know many others I don't think.

  3. 8 years old, well my gf has a 11 year old sister and a 10 year old step brother. They seem to like anything with Mario in it, sonic in it, games about animals, does she like hana montana or anything? You all may laugh at such a suggestion but the youngsters REALLY like a lot of these shovelware games.

    Actually Curry,

    Nintendogs is an excellent idea!

Oh, and New Super Mario Bros DS.

For an 8 year old girl, you cant go wrong with either.

My most recent encounter with an 7 year old little girl addicted to her DS revealed to me a love of any game with animals it in, and Mario Kart.

Animal Crossing I think would be a great choice

Super Princess Peach is a really good game, and if she likes princesses then it the obvious choice. New Super Mario Bros. DS and Yoshi's Island DS are better games, and I'm sure she'd dig any of them, but I think Peach is the way to go.
