NSMB in 1080p

The game is fresh, the Dolphin SVN build used to record the video too and the Full HD resolution is a luxury no Wii physical machine could afford, something made possible just thanks to the magic of emulation and (of course) the PC platform superior power.

The videos are pretty nice, its a shame Nintendo let HD slide this generation.

considering that the game is just as fun is SD, i don't think it's really a shame.

the ablity to render in 1080p is a step up but if the game was never ment for HD the textures are not going to look right as they still will be relitivly low quality.

i know what your saying GoG but 1080p makes games look so much better. Critter Crunch a simple 2d puzzle game on the PS3 looks like you playing with the master artwork right off the artist table.

Already dunnit here

Dolphin is for both Wii and GC games, since I guess both consoles are so similar, it's pretty sweet.

It certainly would have been easier on the eyes.

I never knew what the fuss was about with HD and all. I bought my Wii and 360 around the same, along with an LCD tv.

I played my Wii first (cause Zelda > Life)

But when I popped in the HD cables with the 360....I was changed. Now, even though I love my Wii, a part of me is always like "damnI wish the pictures were clearer...I dont care if the gfx stayed the same, just the beauty of even 720p would have been nice!"

Im sure a lot of people would have "felt" more of a generational difference, i.e. not all this "two gamecubes duct taped together" bs, based on that alone.

But alas, Nintendo's design philosophy this gen was about making an afforable system that will make them much profit.

The thing still has awesome games though!

Desired: Zelda Wii, Batman Arkham, 3DS
Present: Mass Effect 2
Future: None.

I get a crash with an opengl error......oh well.

[EDIT] doh - i'm using intel which doesn't like/use opengl. After switching to directx I got it started but had more issues.
Now building the latest SVN to see if that solves my problems. Will update later with results.

yep....i may try and get it running on my pc with my GeForce 9800 GT

10. Lol, you should! I'm using a 9800 GTX. You can throw antialiasing and AF all over the games, it's awesome!

Though... you really only need a 8600 or so for this... but who's checking :P

I wanted to get into Dolphin but correcting the controls to my gamepad is infuriating. So i went and homebrew my wii and made it into a tiny pc. Playing ps1, gc, n64, snes etc games and wii games. Now my family who is already use to the wii can play it aswell instead of being on my pc. My mom atm is playing ff4 which she hasn't played since it came out on the snes.
☑ First they ignore you (Pre-2007)
☑ Then they laugh at you (2007-2008)
☑ Then they fight you (2008-2010)
☑ Then they copy you (2011-2012)
☐ Then you win...

That is also a good alternative, although it doesn't mean much for NSMB in 1080p :P

I want to do a similar thing when I get my PSP so I can play SNES, PS1, and PSP games together

I guess there's NES also, but I haven't checked into it much.

I just bought component cables to get 480p. Does that help any? -sniffle-

Cables came ($1.83 buxs from China) and it made a big difference. The 480i resolution (widescreen) had alot of jaggies in the background and was unsharp. Now with the component cables it is about 99% crystal clear and made an improvement in graphics. /hurray for me!

Still jaggies around in places but it looks way better than before.

this game is sold out everywhere.

I cannot find it. This game has been sold out since Xmas!!

No wonder the last weeks data for NSMB were low. Shortages!

I have to say that when I play games like this, the idea of 1080p never enters my mind.

It's like a classic Black and White movie. The story, characters and narrative are so good, color seems irrelevant.

EDIT: What do you mean they were low? It sold 1.8 million units...that's it's 6th week at retail.

Meh. New Super Mario Bros. Wii has still been flippin' awesome in 480p.

It's aggravating the crap out of my wife, though. If I don't keep an eye on her, she might throw the Wiimote, and not by accident. She's already used five continues and she's still at the beginning of World 2.
