Microsoft's E3 keynote was so jam-packed the company decided to wait until afterwards to announce what might be the biggest new feature of them all: on-demand access to full retail games. The service will launch in fall with 30 titles to start, and new games will be added weekly, with pricing to match retail. The best part? Purchases can be made directly with a credit card, no pesky Xbox points required.

Eh, I think this is a waste of resources...and actually somewhere inbetween not a big deal and useless.
1 - I guarantee you'll always be able to find the physical copy of disc and case cheaper at retail then on XBox Live download
2 - With a physical copy, you will be able to take it over to a friends house to play, or allow a friend to borrow/swap with you
3 - You would never be able to re-coup your money spent on the game in download form. Where as with the physical copy you could re-sell it on ebay or trade it in etc.
4 - This is an unneeded waste of space on the hard drive
5 - You have the possibility of frying your hard-drive or anything like that where you could lose all of your download games forever.

I'm sure you could re-download them...5 - You have the possibility of frying your hard-drive or anything like that where you could lose all of your download games forever.
This is a great service, but I don't think the demand is great enough though. For the current market it works great for XBL games I'm sure though.
People are not clamouring to download games, they don't see much trouble going into stores for them. Downloading/digital distribution is the future, but it's not there.
However in the light of all this it is an alternative to going to the store, that is advantageous. The reality is everyone is moving this way to digital distribution eventually, whether exclusively DD or hybrid with physical.
Another touch point is great and I think will be beneficial but I'm not sure if they will profit from this just yet, soon but maybe not yet.
As far as I can see this is the most formidable move MS has made this E3 and it is a strong one.
Doubt it. Maybe when the store is offering a huge sale or something, sure, but online stuff is just so much cheaper to make available.
Just bring your HDD, with this that will be like bringing endless physical copies2 - With a physical copy, you will be able to take it over to a friends house to play, or allow a friend to borrow/swap with you
Best case scenerio you'll get half of what you paid for and thats if the sell the game like right after it launched. Its not that huge3 - You would never be able to re-coup your money spent on the game in download form. Where as with the physical copy you could re-sell it on ebay or trade it in etc.
I don't honestly know which is faster, the rate that hard-drives are becoming larger or the rate that they are becoming cheaper. Either way, space isn't really at a premium.4 - This is an unneeded waste of space on the hard drive
LIVE, and PSN for that mater, what you download is tied to your gamertag/profile.5 - You have the possibility of frying your hard-drive or anything like that where you could lose all of your download games forever.
Personally, I think this is kind of cool and I'm sure Gamestop is sweating a little.
Better than not having it available right?
Thank God it won't require MS points that's all I have to say.
Nope, real moneyz with PSN.The points system in general is a fucking money leech, I can't stand it. I know LIVE and Wiishop uses them, does PSN do to?
I'm really really happy they didn't use a points system.
i actually can't wait for this feature to come through. i hope that they do better with this game download than they did with the xbox original.. i'm still very dissapointed in that non-effort..
with all these options. i think that ms is finally coming to the realization that the xbox is too loud and that the game install has shot off.
only problem i found so far with this option is if each game is about 6GB's. and the biggest hdd they currently offer is 113GB's. that means only 18 game potential. and with an attach rate of 8.? games to each 360. and with dl content. its going to need to be bigger.
i represent the uninformed consumer.![]()
[/url]I'm trying to become more than what was predicted of me.
Really? I still think it's pretty good. It's one of the few arcade that is almost worth the $10.
Samurai mode is also hard as hell.
A episode starts in 7 minutes! Next one at 10:30 est....i think
EDIT:
Ok got a chance to play the 10 and 10 30 show and OMG fucking epic! Microsoft really deserves applauds for this one. Only problem was actually trying to get into a game, I sent JasonXE a couple of invites but I guess you got the "game is full" message? But yeah challenging questions, tons of questions and really REALLY recent questions going into as much as E3 09! You really gotta be in the loop for tons of genres and categories. I love it and can't wait to play more.
