    Advance Wars... Enigma... Help?

How do I beat Enigma? looks impossible!
1.Strums(sp?) starting army is twice as big as mine
2.He has easy access to Bases, Airports, and Seaports
    3. all my army is stuck on that one little island.
4.Nell isn't giving good advice.(I start capturing stuff, Strum comes along with all this Infantry and Mech and captures everything I took)

    any advise?

    Also, who should I use?
    Andy?
    Max?
Sami?(I beat the previous level with her.)

"... When the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, and shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."

    1. Create a new design map. Fill it with plains. Then, starting in the upper left hand corner, fill it from left to right with Orange Star tanks, A-A, Missiles, fighters and bombers in random order until the surplus is exhausted. DO NOT GO OVER 15 UNITS IN A ROW. Once you have 15 units in the 1st row, start a new row of 15. The last row will have 5 units, start it on the left side of the screen.

    2. Once you have put your units in the map, save it (in any one of the slots) and go to field training.

    3. Play the Naval Forces mission. Follow all of Nell's instructions for day 1. After she leaves you on that day, just end your turn. Olaf will move his units and it will be your turn again. On day two Nell will tell you about diving subs. Do what she says and then she will leave the battle to you. Then unload your t-copter from your cruiser and end your turn. Olaf will destroy the t-copter, causing you to loose the mission.

    4. Go back to design maps and load up your map with all the units. Select the delete tool from the units menu. Starting in the upper left corner, always holding down the A button, delete all your units going from left to right in the first row. When you reach the end of the first row, keep holding A and go from right to left in row 2. Keep going like this and when you have deleted about 3/4 of your units, Nell will pop up and say that the Orange Star army has lost. At this point you know the bug worked and you can just sit back while the computer deletes the remainder of your units.

    5. The game is now really screwed up. It is like the Vs mode and design maps mode are running at the same time. To edit a campaign map hit A on an empty space. The pointer is off the menu and comes up, experiment with it until you figure out how to get to the exit map option. Once you get to the mode select screen, select the mode with the map you want to edit.

    6. In the map you can now hit the L or R will now bring up the unit and building menus respectively and you can alter the map to your liking.

Notes: The game may freeze at any time. Avoid pressing B when you are not in a menu. To make the game normal, just turn the game off and back on again. Most importantly: ALL CHANGES MADE TO A CAMPAIGN, WAR ROOM, OR VS. MAP ARE PERMANENT UNLESS YOU DO THE BUG AGAIN AND FIX THEM. Be warned.

    hmmmmmm...sounds...tempting... should I?

Just beat it the old fashioned way, I beat that damn campaign who knows how many times to get all the characters unlocked, so you should have to also. The trick to them all is just fend off attacks while building your forces and slowly push toward the goal. There are other things to do to get good ranks, but I'm not a pro.

yay, I did it without cheating....

now, on to the Final Battle!

    Team: Andy, Max, and Sami...

When you get better, and go through it again, you can have some of the different guys, like Kanbei or Grit, or both. It is much more fun, the final battle the second time, so just keep at it.

I hope I can unlock the final battle map, I like the lay out.

also, with the other COs, are they controled by the cpu or by you like with the situation I am in now?

You control them, it's just if you do certain things in the campaign, others will show up to help you instead of your usual friends. I will suggest that you allow yourself some time from the game as you go through it to get the characters, I despised that game for a long time after I did it, but then again, I was obsessed on it.

heh, this last level is a challenge! glad I got those missile launchers though, Sturm is stupid enough to move his bombers right in their attack range! but his ground troups are killing poor andy, lol.

and, ya know that Hatchi give you hints on stuff in the game? well, what is he hinting on when he thinks you are Nell when you walk into his shop some times?

I could just be a dumb comment, as he doens't always say useful things. I haven't heard it proven you can get Nell, so I just interpret it as him saying your doing better.

  10. #10
I read somewhere that you can unlock Nell by unlocking Sturm then beating Advance Campaign. sounds like that is gonna take a while, lol.
(I also saw GS codes to get her at GSC, so there must be a way a to do it with out cheating.)

also, something that Hatchi said too, which proves that everything he says isn't helpfull.

"Good Luck! Go take a bath! Wash your face!"

  11. Well, I guess it could be possible you smell so bad that a soul-less game gets offended. Maybe not. If you can get Nell, I had better work on it, as that will definately take me awhile.

ya, Advance Campaign is very hard, but some people say that the Sturm levels are easier with Fog of War since is impeads Sturms sight. yet again, where I read that it also said that you had to know how the CPU thought when it moved it's men, and it is fairly interesting. Two of the many things that are helpful to know:
    1. if you move an APC, T chopper, or Lander into your opponents attack range, the cpu will attack it like nothing else exists on the map. good to get a group of infantry and mech past enemy lines, and a big target for falling stuff if you cluster 3 or 4 together in the Final Battle!
    2. moving something into your attack range that your enemy can't get to in the next turn(unless FOW) will either make the unit fall back or go on a suicide speed mission to take it out. interesting, do this with cheap things like recon and tanks often.

    and something I noticed
although usualy this is hard to do sometimes since this requires geting close to the HQ of your enemy, sitting a tank or something on a Port/Airport/Base to hault production of your enemy will not arouse any special effort to get you off of it, but that doesn't mean that they will just avoid you. This is a good idea to do unless there are a few MD Tanks and Bombers waiting for you.

and as for Nell, I don't know if you need to play Rivals to get her. Better safe than sorry though, huh?

    yahoo!

I just beat the Final Battle.

but man, watching my scores role by on the credits screen was a shocker. man, one of the battles really stuck out to me, 58 days. But that shows I have improved quite a bit since I took 20 days on the last one with a B rank. This time when I go through it, I am doing it right!

  14. I am starting to go through the advance campaign myself. It is much, much harder to do, but I think that my strategic thinking in the game has improved, as I wouldn't win without it. Good luck on going through again, but if you are still improving, don't get Eagle and Sonia until the last, they are the hardest.

  15. #15
ok, but sonja don't sound too hard to get, just beat her levels. Doesn't she suffer from bad luck or something that weakens her troups?
as for eagle, forget it, beat the rivals mission? nope, I'll wait.

heh, the 58 day level that I had was the first one against Eagle, I beat it in something like 20 days and got an A rank, thus destroying my only E rank, lol

  16. Yeah, the Rivals mission was my most despised of all of them. I have no plans on doing the things to get it, as it was hard enough just beating the right levels with Sami. I also say to beat the Sonia levels last as it seems a lot of people have trouble with beating the Kanbei levels fast enough, and also, Sonia is pretty challenging with fog of war, rockets, and her ability to see far, far distances.

  17. #17
well, it looks like I get Grit in the next Final Battle. He will be a big help, one or too missile batteries and sturms bombers won't stand a chance of crossing that river. Part of me also wants to bring Kanbei into that level too, but I bought him, and I see just how much his troups cost. Unconciveable! 120% of what other COs pay! well, at least they are strong, but I don't think that matters after a half-mile long chunk of rock falls on his troups every three days.

  18. I haven't tried it, but I think in theory you can make a large group of infantry or something cheap and the Meteor Strike will only hit them. I like having both Max and Grit, but I've had Eagle before, and he is a great help with air support, though it takes a while before you can stabilize the funds needed.

  19. #19
eh? you can have both max and grit in the final battle at the same time? I thought that max was interchangeable with Olaf and Grit, not additional. I would love to use both of them though, the perfect army! Grit blowing up stuff from long distance and Max shooting in on anything that gets too close!

  20. Now that I think of it, I guess you can't have both. It has been a long time since I've beaten the campaign, so I guess I forgot. I think the time I'm thinking of was Grit and Eagle. I'm not too sure of it, though, but I know I liked the combination.
