Xbox price drop

Now the Xbox is only 200 bucks. If they were losing lots of money on it when it was 300 dollars? Aren't they losing a crap load more now. Also, they only got less than six month to sell it at it's full price, wouldn't you say MS is losing a bunch of money?

Well for one thing: Everybody losses money on console selling. Nintendo does, Sony does, Sega did (#1 reason they stoped making consoles), and now MS does.

You sell your console at a cost and make up for it through 1st party games, periphials, and 3rd party licensing

Another thing: I dont think MS needs to worry about losing money

Both Sony and Microsoft are bringing out consoles with streamlined parts soon. It's also worth noting that Nintendo make huge profits (quite a bit more than Sony).

EDIT: from the video game market obviously.

No, because most people that don't buy consoles either don't want them or don't have the money. Now that it is lowered, people have three equal consoles to choose from(in money, I mean). And even though they are losing money, take a look at who is funding the xbox. Bill Gates. So they still have plenty of money!

well thats good news. more people el go out to get an xbox now. Its pretty fast for a price drop since it just came out last november but its very good news

They said they were droping price befor the summer hits because during the summer consoles dont sell well and they were trying to keep it selling strong through the summer.

That was Sony's reason for price drop too but I think they just drop price because after being out for over a year it is about time for a price drop.

i tihnk that every one that is still trying to defend the game cube should stop untill the price goes down. I mean if they have two other systems out that both are better there is no arguemant to be made. So stop trying.

what you mean by that? I still think the cube is the best console although i may buy another system (not sure yet though) no one can compare to nintendo's franchises and thats why they are the best couple this with increased 3rd party support and hey ya nevva know

They only dropped it because of(someone said this) the summer-consoles don't sell good and because they need to keep up with the competition. They can't be the highest priced console and expect people to suppport them.

I won't even consider an xflop until it costs the same as a GCN, it's not more powerful so why pay more?

Speak english. What the hell do I need with thirdrate DVD playback? That's not a feature, that's a non-feature. So you see it's no better. Also a 10GB HDD is worth about $5-9.
