Speculation on Metroid Prime...

When i saw the newest screens.. first i goggled at the eye candy, but then i set about examining the picture, and upon further inspecition i noticed two things in the bottom corners of the screenshot: the left was obviously some sort of item selection thing designated for the D-Pad... on the right, though, was something that im sure was for the C-stick.. but what it was i couldnt imagine...

can anyone shed some light on this?
note the bottom right hand corner...

  2. I noticed that, also, but have no clue what those hands pictured could be for. At least, they look like hands.

  3. I was just noticing something else in that screen. If you look at the border of the HUD, along the right side of the screen seems to form some type of meter, kind of like the energy meter along the top. Both meters are bolder white than the rest of the border of the HUD.

  4. My guess is the right-side are key-symbols but the left-side i have no idea

what do you mean by key symbols?

also i think the right side "bar" is an ammo meter of some sort

    Them shots look so cool.

I think the symbols at the right could be errrrrr....... for........ errrrrmmmmmmmmmmm...... nope. Not a clue.

  7. The bar up there could be for her life. The symbols could be for the weapons but this is what I think.

I have a new hypthesis; since this new Metroid game aparently takes place in a new location, the bottom right hand corner will most likley be "keys" since you are on a space craft (not ZEBES nor SR388). Which will make sense since they look like hands (think of Total Recall). The bottom left hand corner is obviously nothing more than different weapondry since just about all consists of an icon that resembles a crosshair.

*too busy lookin at the picture to say anything intelligent*

Energy is obviously your health as in all of the metroid games.

Then again, the bottom right COULD be the weapon select and the left bottom could also be a weapon's modes. Like in perfect dark. secondary modes.

thats what i was thinking and the ammo on the right.

is there any hope for multiplayer? cause if not it is not worth buying.

Well FPS have always repeled me but there is one thing I'm hoping from MP is something that makes it fun just to run around and shoot. FPS have always bored me. Also if you guys remember Turok's control then I don't need to talk.

  13. The one on the left looks like it might possibly switch between ways of targeting(locking on or manual) or possibly doing something as mundane as changing the type of crosshairs (less likely though). The one on the right looks like it switchs weapons.

forgive my harshness but ARE YOU DUMB! its metroid! METROID! how can it "not be worth buying" that is like.. greek to me.. unless you absolutely HATE first person/third person shooters, but otherwise... gah.. no... i just cant accept that possibility... not buying metroid would be like being a hermaphrodite or something - it just wasnt meant to be..

anyways yea, everyone speculates the same as me on everything but the bottom right corner.. the top is obviously samus' life, the right may possibly be her ammo, im pretty sure the bottom left is weapon selection.. the top right is the map, and the top left seems to be a radar... but what could bottom right be?

I don't know about switching weapons but use of different kinds of unlimited energy blaster like freezing, triple shot, wave shot, should be done in menu or start mode. Also I think the right are your abilities to use a morphing ball, energy grapple hook, running really fast, etc Suit change should also be done in a menu or start mode.

  16. I agree with reboot, i also think they are keys, but have that anchient-cultural feel to them from the prevuis metroid-games, which leads me to believe that the game does indeed take place on a planet. Im guessing that the dev team basically are staying 90% true to the old metroid games, in terms of story, atnisphere, enviroment, weapons, enemies/boss etc...Except of course for the game-play.

  17. let the flaming begin.

    I HAVE NEVER PLAYED METROID!!
    no i am not 12, almost 18
yes i owned a nintendo and snes and gameboy

i was a deprived child okay?

and yes multiplayer makes a game worth playing. i have a cube and i still play PD! to me multi is the most important part of a system. i wish ff7 and such were multi, like ff3.

  18. Well after analizing some of the screen-shots I noticed that the display on the lower right are probably not keys but actaully weapons, becuase that corralated with the gun samus was carrying. I also noticed that there were several more of them in the more recent screen shots. I also noticed kriad, the (small version in the hologram or tube) seen in the most recent screen. Interestingly watching the trailer with big-kriad in it and the enivorment he was in and compraing it to the screens it seems as though metroid-prime is keeping most of its old elements atnisphere, enviroment, music, enemies.. Similiar to super-metroid, you fight kriad at the beggining and when you get closer to his lair you face a mini-kriad. Which makes sense becuase by that time youve accumulated 4 keys or 4 differant canon-upgrades. Yellow doors, deep in nosfair maby? Maby lava through the orange door? look like lava in the next room also in the other lastest screen looking thorugh the crack a hot-room! Also in earlier screen-shots with the bug in the air? thats brinstar... Im hoping but am pretty sure this game does take place on sr388 what alot of energy tanks also? (At the top by the health display) Seems like there keeping it to its roots in most respects ( except game-play) Lets hope they include a sound and art gallery from metroid/supermetroid.

-Well I must totally disagree with you (not because I'm an asshole either). I'm sure if you remmember the old fotage shown at E3, you will remmember Samus standing on top of her ship as the camera pans across...right? If so, you should also remmember that there is indeed a door of somesort behind her, and as the camera pans, you can obviously tell that it is not on any planet not only from the atmosphere, but because there is no ground. Plus I believe that you are forgetting that Metroid 4 will indeed take place on a space craft of somesort. Not to mention that there are more/different enemies than on planet ZEBES, and on SR388 see pic below for one example of new creature.
-But I believe that these "things" are keys not only because thats all that they can be, but because they are in fact shaped like hands, and not just hands, but a variety of hands at that.

yet if you look at other screenshots, samus is DEFINITELY outside... maybe samus travels to different planets/ships? maybe she is on a ship as a spy or stowaway, and the ship leads her to this planet? hmmmmmmmm

also - if rumor is true, metroid prime is a prequel to the first metroid, and so has no relation to metroid 4...
