This article compares the newest three next-gen systems. Some of you may disagree with the opinions in this article and in return say "Popular Science Sucks!" or "Yea, Popular science knows pleanty about video games" but the truth is Popular Science is one of America's largest magazines with millions of subscribers. So please give them some credibablity for there opinions.

This guy gave nintendo the crap review and went straight for the X-Box i dont think he knows what hes talking about.

MGSX, FFXI and GTA3 are often classed as PS2 games because they will not be coming to Xbox or PC for a while. Halo will probably be called an Xbox exclusive even more because it will be a LONG time before it is ported to PC. Don't forget Halo 2 will probably be closer to the launch of PD0 than Halo. Furthermore I don't think PD0 will stand a chance as the best online FPS against Unreal Championship.

I've read it. Every Mag article about the 3 systems I've read in a mag like that one, and such, always bashes the GCN. Trust me, that's no professional gamer there, Popular Science does not focus on gaming. He was simply following the crowd, by acting "mature" and putting down the GCN because it appeals to all ages and has a nifty, useful little handle and carrying size.


PS: Now exactally relevant, but I needed to tell this sometime. People keep saying that the GCN is for kids. Well, I was at BlockBuster about a week ago. I was looking through the GCN games(pissed that THPS3 wasn't in), and there was an X-Box comercial on the TV above me. To my right, there was this 5 year old kid. He was looking up at the screen, with a dumb look on his face. When the comercial ended, he started jumping up and down, saying "X-Box! X-Box! X-Box! X-Box! X-Box!". A five year old kid. I shook my head and continued reading the back of DMFBMX2, but inside I was falling over laughing. Yeah, I know it doesn't mean much, but it was still hilarious. What would have been awsome would have been if an X-Box fanboy had been next to me(the GCN,X-Box, and PS2 sections are right next to each other), then I would have laughed out loud, if only for the look on his face.

I've learned since gaming became mainsteam to never trust any editor's opinion about the console wars. Everybody should just check out the lineup for each console, try 'em all out(Rent the systems, go to a friend's house, whatever) and form their own opinion. Screw those guys.

The FACT is that Nintendo has said that their primary market are children. It doesn't mean that there aren't any games aimed at adults or that adults can't enjoy the games or that kids might prefur PS2 or Xbox to Gamecube. All it means is that in general most of the Gamecube 1st and maybe 2nd party games will be aimed at children.

Microsoft has been paying off many people to do this and payed some to make it look good and have xbox coming on top even with all the reviews being bad. EGM, Popular Science, and more. I know they payed off EGM cause they are idiots when it comes to reviews. everytime a mag or someone picks xbox as a winner over gamecube, there is no real reason why they choose it.

The problem with articles comparing consoles is that people, whether they believe it or not, generally hold some degree of bias. The writer will go into his article already favoring one console over the others and this will sort of guide all of his judgements. If somebody likes Xbox, whether they believe themselves unbiased or not, will end up showing some evidence to their bias in their debates. It's natural.

I mean shit, ask the harcore gamers of all 3 systems and they will tell you the answer. how can someone have time to give reviews in a magazine and talk to people in chat rooms and still have time to play the game? I hang out at the teamxbox console debate forum...not 24/7 but close I only have a Gamecube, so I am not an XBOX fanboy, but I do respect the system and its potential. I just have to see some good games other than Halo, which is just a good FPS, but not perfect IMO. The other games are quite good but I have no interest in them. I am hoping that XBOX starts unleashing some very good games with as much fun value as a typical nintendo game...I am sure a few Sega games will end up like this!
