lol. Lotsie, while you may think that the GCN has no competition, I'm afraid that you're very wrong. Tons of people like the PS2 and the X-Box. And it just wouldn't be gaming without competition. I mean, I'm not very good with Economics(yet. I'm taking a class in it) but I'm pretty sure that rival systems actually help the gaming market. What would the gaming market be like with only Nintendo? Just think about it.

If it was only Nintendo, innovation would be stifled, and we probably wouldn't have gotten any of the kickass games we've enjoyed from Nintendo over the past couple of years. Competition forces developers to create new, innovative games that keep this industry fresh. If Nintendo was the only videogame company around, they wouldn't feel the need to give us something new every now and then. Temjin is actually perfectly correct you know. Competition is actually one of the best things for a company(besides money:gg). I mean, have you noticed that with every war a new powerful weapon is created(Machine Gun, Atom Bomb.......). It's all because they have to innovate and create new stuff, or they will be beaten. If there was only one of every type of company in the world, then we would not be getting new stuff, just variations of the old stuff like Temjin said. Think about it.

If nintendo were the only cmopany it would crumble and fall do to its weak game innovation. But with greystation and and X bug around it has quite a valid threat to it's profit there fore i believe that if sony and nintendo merged they would be superior to microsoft and yet still have competition plus whats the point in have company unless it sels products that are in demand if nintendo were the on ly company it would not be forced by competiton but by PROFIT no-one would buy repeats of smb because they would want better games.

so

competition->innovation->expansion->force of competitions innovation->more competiton->innovation->expansion

etc etc etc etc etc etc
