Thread: just the games

Let's stop harassing each other and do what all great gamers do. Brag about what makes our favorite games the best, and also warnings for games sure to suck. Show me some of the best x-box titles and I'll reply with GCNtitles and other people can say we're both wrong and tell about their favorite Sony ps2 games.

it's too early to judge XBox of GC games, none of them are finished

but both systems, and all for that matter will have good games, even the ps2 has a couple, but not as many as I though it would have. in fact some of their games are downright terrible, especially some first party games like Gameday.

I think the words are encouraging from MS when they say that if they release bad games on launch day, it would be embarassing to the system and the company. Propaganda from MS? Maybe, but I am willing to listen and possibly believe.

I also like thier port requirements. If a dev ports a game from another system to the XBox, that port must have additional levels and upgraded graphics pretaining to hte nVidia features.

SONY on the other hand has no problem releasing terrible first party games like Gameday. That is an insult to any gamer in my opinion. Sure there will be bad games, but SONY and thier new system have just too many bad games. With a sparse few good games, and just a few I would be looking forward to if I cared about the PS2, e.g MGS2 or GT3 and maybe FFX.

Cause sony has released terrible first party games that should have been scraped or taken longer to make, I have lost even more respect for them cause I don't think they respect the consumer. I think they look at the PS1 and think 'no problem witht he ps2, people will buy it regardless.'

Nintendo will make good games, they also take thier own sweet damn time making them to near perfection. Which is good in the long run. But in the short term it may mean a small library.

Nintendo and XBox seem to have good quality control. PS2 seems to have no quality control.

    wow that was long winded

  3. Well said BigSky, both systems are going to have good games. I am just looking for more RPG's and Action games that I don't see coming to the GC. Xbox already has over 13 RPGs in the making. Nintendo lost me as a fan with their lack of games on the N64.

And for some it's not a deal, but I do like the fact that I'm getting another DVD player in the deal. Progressive scan even!

Some games I can't wait to play!

    Morrwind
    Progect Ego
    Neverwinter Nights
    Dino Crisis 3
    MechWarrior X
    Silent Hill X
    Metel Gear Solid X
    Enclave
    Crimson Skies
    Genma Onimusha
Broken Sword 3: The Sleeping Dragon
    Battlefield 1942
    Halo
    Medal of Honor: Allied Assault
    Panzer Dragoon
    House of the Dead 3

The N64 may not have had many RPG's or adventures, (except Zelda of course) but I have already seen some great ones being made and am sure more are to come. If you need names here are some.

    Raven Blade
    Zelda
    Kameo: Elements of Power
    Phantasy Star Online version 2

These are just a few and I'm sure I could find more if I looked.

Also if you feel we can't judge the games yet, Bigsky, why are you such a strong x-box supporter? Finally, some GCN games can be judged as they are already playable through demos.

  5. IGN doesn't have any RPGs listed for GC and in the action/adventure side Xbox has over twice the games. Again I understand that not all of these games will be good, but with GC releasing shortly in Japan it's looking like they will be short on games like the N64 was.

a short list of RPG's for the Xbox:

    Blademasters Action/RPG Q4 2001
Call of the Dragonfly Action/RPG Summer 2002
    Celestrial Realms Adventure/RPG -
    Daemons RPG -
    Morrowind RPG Q4 2001
    Hunter:The Reckoning RPG/Action Q1 2002
    Infiltrator:Shadow Wars RPG/Action -
Legend of the Blade Masters RPG -
    Master Slave Action/RPG Q4 2001
    Metal Dungeon RPG -
    Neverwinter Nights RPG -
    Project Ego RPG -
    Project X.Fox RPG 2002
    Runebird RPG/Sim Q4 2001
Sea Dogs II RPG Spring 2002
    X-Chaser Action/RPG Q4 2001
    X-men RPG -

Sweet! How many for GC again?

I can agree with you on that that many games is pretty awesome, but you still can't be sure of the quality. I believe Nintendo has quality from experience, though you never know. Besides I'm sure there are other great games for gamecube and remember that Nintendo is very secretive about things, unlike MS so don't give up on them yet.

  7. True Nintendo makes some great games, but why buy it and hope they come up with some when I know I'll have plenty of games with the Xbox. Again I'm sure that not all games listed will be great, but I have found 4 times the games there's a good chance there are some good ones!

  8. also those who keep saying ms doenst have any console experience well guess what the 3 party's who are actually making those games HAVE experience.

not only that but MS has created SoftWare in the pst, like MechWarrior which was a huge seller on the PC and some other good games I don't want to look for now.

Nintendo was new at one point too, so the whole argument about them having no experience does not mean that much.

Besides it's a fresh start, where GC is just a re-hash of the same franchises, for the 4th time now.

Sorry but N64 was the best system ever. It only had 250 games, but still the system boasted better games than Playstation which had around 2000 games. Goldeneye, Mario 64, Turok 1-3, Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, Shadowman, Mission Impossible, Body Harvest, Star Wars Shadows of The Empire, Mario Party, Duke Nukem 64, Duke Nukem Zero Hour. Those are all the games I have, and not one of them is short of astounding. Now I go to the PSX, or the PC, and all I find is a few good games here and there but nothing as good as 64's.

It's not about the system, it's about the games! or so everyone here keeps telling me. So where are the games. Xbox, in every genre, has nearly twice the games if not more. Again, I know not all of them will be great, but it's starting to look like GC will be laking in the games I want, just like the N64 did. I had fun with a lot of N64 games, but it seemed to me that the grass was clearly greener on the other side.

I don't think you find to many people who will agree with you that N64 had better games than PC. PC are just to much to keep up with.

  15. Could that be why the PC games industry is dying a slow painful death, and why some PC developers are jumping ship to consoles, while others are contemplating bringing their games to consoles first before PC? Half Life 2 is coming to Xbox, and PS2 first which is a BIG stab in the back for the few PC users left. Then there is Irrational Games creators of System Shock making a game called "The Lost" which will be Ps2 exclusive.
