Thread: Told you Xtrabox sucked at E3 (Official from Judges)

1. Well, lucky me. Seems while the rest of you fine folk are sleeping, I've gotten the first look at the E3 Award Winners. Irregular sleeping patterns have finally paid off! Anyhoo, here's the link to the official winners page. Instead of subjecting you to my opinions, which, admittedly, wouldn't be very informed anyhow (especially in the PC area), I'll just give everyone a quick rundown of the winners. And hopefully this'll be the first post of mine that people actually respond to! Aha! "I have a dream..." :-P Enjoy!

If you're interested in comments on each of the winners from various judges, again, check the official winners page.

You should have done this in the GC section because the X-Box Boys will just talk crap to your thread.

could care less about the E3 awards, cause the general buying public has no clue of E3

but let's look at your list and break it down to show that XBox will actually have some very good titles:

Best PC Game:
Runner-up:
Medal of Honor Allied Assault
(2015 Inc./Electronic Arts for PC)

MOH is coming to XBox.

Best PC Hardware
Nvidia's GeForce 3
(Nvidia)

Nvidia is supplying the Graphics care based on this model set for the XBox. It's just that you don't need a $2000 PC to run it for it's full use.

Best Console Hardware:
Runner-up:
Microsoft Xbox
(Microsoft Corp.)

Nice!

Best Action Game:
Runner-up:
Medal of Honor Allied Assault
(2015 Inc./Electronic Arts for PC)

Coming to XBox anyway.

Best Racer:
Runner-up:
Project Gotham Racing
(Bizarre Creations/Microsoft for Microsoft Xbox)

Not bad for a game that was running on a Dev-Kit and was only under development on XBox kits for about 4 months.
And the game was lucky to be half done.

Best Sports Game
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
(Neversoft Entertainment/Shaba/Activision for Sony PlayStation 2)

Will be on XBox anyway, with better graphics.

Special Commendation for Sound
Medal of Honor Allied Assault
(2015 Inc./Electronic Arts for PC)

I have no fear we won't see the same sound on the XBox, since it is more than capable of in game 5.1 surround.
Thus really we will see the same on XBox.

4. i dont mind you posting the chart (altough its clearly to bash) but your thread name said it all.
it reflecs your intelligence or lack of it very well.

5. Next time please don't start a thread with such a harsh opening.

And BigSky, THPS3 has not been announced for XB, you're getting THPS2x.

Also the GF3 chipset on the card and the chipset in the motherboard of Xbox have some very key differences. Mainly many effects and visual techniques on the card can't be done as the card has it's very on 64MB's of RAM to draw from. Thats a impossibility on Xbox even though it's RAM is partionable.

yet it is an important event for more hardcore gamers and it also influances the media greatly, which is where casual gamers will probably be getting their information. (poor souls)

7. pretendo do some fact checking th3 IS comming to

xbox.http://www.msxbox.com/php/full_post.php3?id=1038

and there is NO gf3 on xbox there is a costum GF3 on xbox with 2 times the poly pushing power of the gf3 1.25 better pixel shader proformance and 1billion operations per second contra the 800 mil ,a extra t&l unit and the NV2A is a full blown gf3 with all the things of it plus the above stated extras.
the HD will help the ram plus the 6:1 compression.

for consoles anyway. PC got 8 winners. Well, that is interesting...

10. #10
Only to the close-minded ones, approx... And the people with very high expectations.

11. #11
Approx, you're an idiot. It doesn't "officially" mean X-Box sucks. It means it's showing at E3 was poor as poor can be. X-Box can come back with a great showing in homes at launch day.

12. #12
Hes right you know?

I don't know about the whole gf3 thing or much about the processing power of the Xbox. One thing that I do know is this; If developers work months to make demos for the Xbox but developers working with GC technology only have to work a couple of weeks to make demos that are absolutely amazing(especially compared to the Xbox demos), that is really amazing. Also who cares if THPS3 is coming out for the Xbox. It's also coming out for the GC. That shows how special the Xbox is.

And of the screenshots that I have seen, THPS3 for the PS2 and THPS2X for the Xbox are more or less identical. In THPS2X, the skaters are made out of the same number of polygons as the DC versions of THPS1 and 2 but the graphics are smoother. Shows you just how special the Xbox is. Well, gotta go.

14. too bad those demos where on alfa kits with a gf3 on 50% of final xbox power.same for the games.th2x is just some supid port dont expect miracales.

15. Here is more proof that Xbox sucked at E3. It was rated in EGM(the best mag ever) that Xbox was the biggest disappointment at E3. Here is a quote ripped straight from the mag.

"It's not that the Xbox sucked at E3. After all, we got to see some cool gaming in Munch's, Halo, DOA3, and Jet Grind Feature. But the games didn't wow us like Microsoft wanted them to. Launch is only a few months away...better get some killer apps in the lineup! How about some broadband Phantasy Star Online? Everyone else is doing it... Oh, and fix your controller, too--those face buttons are too close together."

The thing is that Xbox was the biggest disappointment but the weird thing is that besides comparing the E3 shows of PS2 and GC to Xbox they were also comparing how well Dreamcast did at E3 compared to Xbox. Still Xbox was rated the biggest disappointment.

They need to finalize Xbox and show what it can quick, right now. If they drag this out much longer, then they are going to lose possible sales. Well, gotta go yo.

16. yeah i know, but e3 mean little dreamcast was a succes at e3 and look now

17. If they said the Dreamcast was good, then it was obviously for how the now older console was when compared to the others.

I already explained this in several other threads. MS showed off a bunch of software that was already shown at Gamestock... A ton of games were shown behind closed doors, though(Over 30, I hear).

And like MATRIX-X said, E3 doesn't determine how well a console will do in this biz. The PS2 at E3 wasn't all that hot either(Last year, it did fairly well this year). The only thing that saved it(Somewhat) was the movie of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty... Look at it now. O_o;

19. E3 doesn't really count but for hardcore gamers, but what counts is experience and the games. What counts the most is what looks good or what has satisfied in the past. Playstation 2 was a success due to the popularity of the playstation. Nintendo will succeed due to its improving image and the fact that with the handheld market conquered they can never be defeated. I think Microsoft will fail due to the fact that nobody has had a console before. It is the most expensive, and its graphics aren't massively greater either. You even have to pay extra for the dvd option. Finally I know a lot of people may disagree, but an aweful lot of people seem to despise MS to the extreme including nearly all my friends.

Really? You have to pay extra money just to play DVD movies on the Xbox. That's bogus. I don't really care for DVD in gaming systems but if a system is going to use DVDROMs for games then being able to play DVD movies should be included in the price. What if the original playstation used CDROMs for games but not play music CDs?

Now that doesn't make sence.

P.S. I am the #1 MS hater.
